A Red Scare is the promotion of fear of a potential rise of communism or radical leftism, used by anti-leftist proponents. In the United States, the First Red Scare was about worker (socialist) revolution and political radicalism. Watching fear grip the nation is truly scary, it is very reminiscent of things we have done in the past. From immigration to Japanese-Americans, it takes the nation like a storm and never ends well. Obviously this terror threat needs to be dealt with but not with over reaction. Unfortunately, history also shows us that not only America, but the world, does not do things in moderation when threatened.
