All laws are about punishing people for crimes.

Do they have to get another A with each abortion? I mean it might encourage women to have a second one so people think they are an alcoholic or a third one to make people think they have 24 hour road-side assistance.

It would be very interesting and violent to see you attempt painting on the chest of my wife...not in any way recommended.

We could make this a sport.

Pro-lifers and women who have had legal abortions could be put in a coliseum - and we could all watch as the pro-lifers tried to paint Scarlett A's on the women's chests.

Then we could watch the pro-lifers die horrible and violent deaths.

I call dibs on the TV rights.

Well, that's a tad extreme.....how about we paint the first letters of their "sins" on the Anti-Choicers........when we've covered their entire bodies we'll use billboards to continue...:)

    Why not the alphabet?

Anyone divorced must wear a big D
Anyone who gets a speeding ticket wears an S
    P for a parking ticket.
    B if the person's parents weren't married.
    CS if paying child support
DB if behind on child support
F if fired from a job for cause
DO if did not finish high school
    DA if drug conviction
    DUI if any alcohol conviction

People could be wearing an alphabet code.

Simplify it....just a big C for Christian, then all the nice sane people can avoid them.

A Scarlet Letter could also serve as a warning to pro-life men to stay away from certain women if they don't want their offspring to be aborted.

Correct except for the fact that the scarlet letter has nothing to do with abortion as implied in the OP. The scarlet letter was for adultery.

You missed the letter for original sin which I guess everyone would wear if the religious got their way.

I'm well aware of that.....the OP's explanation was in the OP.

Yes, the Scarlet letter was used on women who actually probably refused the attentions of some old Puritan and then was accused of adultery......

It was used to shame.....not needed for women who have abortions.

If a woman got an abortion back then they would have done a lot worse to her than make her wear a scarlet letter.

Or legal abuse of fetuses... Abortion truly is the deadliest form of child abuse.

No, no child is involved in abortion and you have never proven there is.....

But thank you for helping prove to another poster that for Anti-Choicers it IS all about hating women....

No, in earlier times, it was taken for granted that women were in control of childbearing and birth. It wasn't until the mid-1800s that men decided to try to control what had always been the sphere of women. It didn't work for them then, either.

    http://www.ourbodiesourselves.org/health-info/u-s-abortion-history/

Women around the world have used abortion to control their reproduction at every point in history, and in every known society – regardless of its legality.

In the United States, abortion was practiced until about 1880, by which time most states had banned it except to save the life of the woman. Anti-abortion legislation was part of a backlash against the growing movements for suffrage and birth control — an effort to control women and confine them to a traditional childbearing role.

No one in society deserves to be marked as some kind of a pariah.
