That's in essence exactly what the Dems just tried - attaching a clean DACA bill as the precondition to the spending bill. Newsflash, they failed. There will be no "clean" DACA bill, it will be bundled with the Wall, chain migration, the diversity lottery etc provisions.
As it should be, otherwise it will be infinitely harder to get any immigration reform done, end chain migration and the lottery, get any wall funding, etc
I already watched Sarah Sanders dodge this question. The president has no interest in DACA. Someone asked if the democrats agree to the added border security will the president accept DACA, she refused to answer. So the Republicans have NO intention of approving DACA even if the dems give them all the border security they want. Her answer was there will have to be discussions on it as long as more security is added. So the answer is no the GOP just killed the dreamers and Trump lied. AGAIN.
Out of curiosity, when Trump indicated he could support a new DACA policy, was it one that included AMNESTY for the illegal alien PARENTS who dragged these 'dreamers' in here in the first place...? The present one that Democrats have been frothing about does include this nifty 'get-out-of-jail-card' for Mamacita and Papacito.... . "Just gimme some time... the next one will be a nice, legal ANCHOR BABY...."
What are you, 5 year old? She refused to answer because it's to be negotiated, she'd be an idiot to tip her hand. The republicans are indeed not interested in DACA but the Dems will get it if they are willing to play ball, fund the entire wall, stop chain migration etc.
https://coffman.house.gov/news/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=2361 Coffman Initiates Discharge Petition to Force DACA Vote Washington, D.C., September 5, 2017 Washington, D.C. — Today, U.S. Representative Mike Coffman (R-CO) used a legislative maneuver known as a "discharge petition" to attempt to force a floor vote on a bipartisan bill, H.R. 496 the Bar Removal of Individuals who Dream and Grow our Economy Act, BRIDGE Act, that he introduced in January with U.S. Representative Louis Gutierrez (D-IL). The BRIDGE Act would extend Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, or DACA for another three years to give Congress time to find a permanent solution for the young people who were brought to the United States as children. An identical version was also introduced in January in the Senate, S. 128, by Senators Lindsay Graham (R-SC) and Dick Durbin (D-IL). The DACA program is for undocumented immigrants who were taken to the United States illegally when they were under 16 years of age, have graduated from or are enrolled in high school and can pass a criminal background check. "I've met many of these young people in Colorado who were brought to the United States as children and who grew up here, who went to school here and who often know of no other country. The DACA program that has given them an opportunity to come out of the shadows, legally work, and pursue higher education," said Coffman.
No she's being obscure because there is no intention. If she said we want wall, security, chain migration, visas for DACA. That's a clear stand.
The only immigration bill I'm aware of is this one http://www.cnn.com/2018/01/17/politics/dreamers-bill-immigration-graham-durbin-congress/index.html If you are aware of anything else, please post it...
That is not a bill, regardless of what CNN claims. That was a proposal. When was DACA implemented? Why did the Dems not put together a proposal and a bill before now? I'll tell you why: the Obama administration was working hard to avoid having the issue go through Congress, and to implement their immigration plans through King Obama and his EO's.
Where have you been they have been negotiating for weeks already. Besides Sarah literally just said they want wall, border security, etc. And when asked if they get those will they approve DACA she gave her bs answer. They asked if the president gets everything he wants on border security will they support DACA, no answer. There's nothing to negotiate there. If the dems agree to all their terms will they accept a vote on DACA.
It's not a surrender... let's call it a truce to collect the dead and wounded off the battlefield... Come Feb 8th, if Mitchy isn't living up to his promise, this 3 day shutdown could look like the high point of 2018.... I think Schumer got what the 2 things he wanted....
