Vergilius, as I said in the OP, answering hypothetical questions and what if's will get this discussion nowhere. I could literally answer all of your what if's and you'd just come up with more.

What if the government comes around and shakes you down for your money under the threat of violence? Oh wait, they already do that. What recourse do you have? Can you switch governments? Nope.

What if the government outlaws guns and porn and they have a huge standing army? What if?

What if the government builds lots of nuclear weapons that have the potential to blow up the entire earth?

What if the government kills hundreds of thousands of innocent people and you can't stop them?

What if the government police force has widespread corruption and brutality? Can't switch police forces, can you?

I can do this all day long. It's pointless but that's the game people play when they hear anarchy.

    How about this:

What if no one will pick the cotton after we free the slaves? What if slaves want to earn an equal living after they become free? What if crime increases when slaves are freed? What if the whole economy shuts down because their is no more slave labor?

The purpose of the capitalist state is to preserve capitalism. and its government is the capitalists' Central Committee. Yes, it is morally wrong, but more to the point it will kill us all if we don't do something to stop it.

Unfortunately most think capitalism=free market and that's just so untrue. I prefer to use crony capitalism though to describe the system we have now. I really wouldn't be morally against voluntary capitalism, I just think capitalism would fall to better market layouts if the state dissipated.

How would a free-market capitalism survive without police, troops, and various systems of propaganda? It isn't in many people's very obvious interest, is it?

I think some hierarchical systems of business would stay. As long as its contractual then I have no problem with it. Obviously, nationwide, corporation run capitalism would fall immediately.
