As far as "my side", how many Democrats voted for https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Authorization_for_Use_of_Military_Force_Against_Terrorists But, maybe you are OK with a country protecting the people who ran airliners into building here. In that case, my side is the great majority of the American people and your side is.....
Today, I think USA realpolitik is more complex than just warring for resources. We really do not care anymore. There are other things going on. As evidence, I'd ask, is being there making the US any wealthier? I don't think so. Look at "wars for oil". The US is able to produce enough oil without the mid east, so why are we there? It isn't about acquiring, but controlling who gets oil. Shutting off oil to the Axis about 90 years ago won WW2 for us. So, the US is fighting the last just war. And it isn't worth doing. Fighting the last war does not prepare for the next one. We cannot control all oil everywhere. Things have changed.
the Taliban had nothing to do with 9/11 at the same time neither did Baghdad though Bush would always start his speeches by equating the two
The USA is presently still the No. One Empire, and they'll be d... to let anyone else take that position from them. Therefore their constant bullying and fighting. Resources ARE a prerequisite to power. Whoever has and hogs it is clearly advantaged. See, how Russia and China are busy trying to catch up to the US. Iran and Venezuela are two oil-rich countries, hence the harassment by the US to prevent China and Russia to do business with them. A big asset for the US is keeping the US-$ as the world's trade currency. Heaven forbid if they lose that, they'll be finished. Truly, I can't fathom the USA not being the world ruler anymore. I've gotten used to them and have nothing to complain. I don't think any other power would be kinder and humaner. Once at the top they all have to fight to keep their position, regardless if it's China or Russia or the much anticipated and feared Zionists.
I wouldn't say too stupid, rather, they had this idea of conquering and reshaping the Middle East to a) gain control of its riches and b) allow Israel to expand. They used the 9/11 incident as their excuse to start the fight against terror. States, especially in the middle East, were declared Terror States and had to be eliminated. As general Wesley Clark said, seven countries in five years! They have pretty much succeeded. If Russia hadn't joined in 2015 they probably would be done by now. Thanks to Russia's interference Syria is still alive and Iran is still intact. Now the US has switched to fight with sanctions instead of weapons. Here is a historical timeline of happenings in Afghanistan... very interesting and we all should look at it to help us understand the Afghan people: https://www.pbs.org/newshour/politics/asia-jan-june11-timeline-afghanistan
Venezuela has more oil wealth than has the Saudis. I understand their people are invading zoos to kill the animals in order to eat them in a failed, collapsed economy. All that oil, all those resources, and they still suck. Controlling assets is unimportant. Liberty and the ability/liberty to produce wealth is all that matters. Such liberty does not exist in radical Leftist authoritarian, pol pot like, radical blood drenched leftist economies.
3 people of congress said this. That you do not trust the claim of a muslim, seems to hint you think those people are 2nd class. That's viewpoint seems to be rather alive in the US.
No i think that some members of Congress are so power hungry that they will lie and abuse people to get what they want. Has nothing to do with race or religion.
They evacuated Clint concentration camp. Says it all. That, and you got people who just hate Muslims for being Muslim, hate women, and especially why they are in control. It's that conservative white Christian male thing.
It wasn't any better under right wing capitalism. People went hungry. People couldn't even go schools or hospitals. Hyper inflation happened. Afterall, why share wealth when a couple of people can have it all? Just like in the US, the amount of people who struggle because they earn 15 bucks an hour or less,.. is massive.
[QUOTE="notme, post: 1070759634, member:It's that conservative white Christian male thing.[/QUOTE] No, it's not. That is your spin on it.
Of course. Fighting and war is a way of life in Afghanistan. There is a literal 'war season' in Afghanistan. If no idiot foriegners are there to fight, they fight each other. There is no way to conquer a people perpetually at war.
You mean,... you delete the argument and than claim it's a spin. That's your twisted spin right there.
Americans are not any different. They start wars all over the world. Have been doing that for decades now. That, or help some dictator to massacre around in some 3rd world country.
I cannot write that I'd heard of nurses leaving hospitals to engage in prostitution in Venezuela before Communism. I will review more. If true, dunno what they're supposed to do next.
It looks like it was better. That oil, like perhaps diamonds in South Africa, is perverting its economy. It appears that, with Petro dollars, they started leftist programs that had people waiting for fat government checks rather than actually doing work. https://mises.org/wire/venezuela-chavez-prelude-socialist-failure. That was a prelude to today's socialist failure. I recall reading of a guy writing a review of his perceptions of early 1800s Chicago and the old, slave owning South. Chicago was becoming a booming, industrious economy. The South? Elites figure they'd just get wealth from slave labor. And their economy was relatively backward. Nothing is better than a society that knows it needs to work for what it wants. Even places like Sweden have high, regressive taxes. They're paying for the programs they want.
Many Americans are proud their government practices military aggression. They are proud we torture and kill, or as Daddy Mike Pence puts it, they are glad their government lies, cheats and steals. Plus, our elected officials profit from their investments in the military industrial complex. We have the government we deserve, and if that means perpetual war in violation of treaties, well, so be it.
People making low wages is not the fault of rich people. Most jobs don't generate more than 15 dollars an hour for their companies.
Well,.. over 40% of the Americans earn less than 15 bucks an hour. https://slate.com/business/2016/03/how-many-workers-earn-less-than-15-per-hour.html The US is far richer than Venezuela, and just like Venezuela... most of the profits ends up in the pocket of the lucky few. In the US it does mean that loads of families struggle around. As I showed in post 99, extreme poverty in Venezuela used to far greater with pure capitalism. Capitalism really doesn't give average people more of an income, buddy.
