    Why do weathermen love economists?

    Economists make weathermen look good.

If you got Rich Jake, Trump has added greatly to your wealth Democrats are very fond of claiming Trump helped the rich.

Surprise Jake, i happen to agree. My point is that is fine with me. And if you resent being more affluent, give your money away. Go up and down your neighborhood. Carry some large bills. Ask those neighbors how much they need and give it to them. That is more important than you rambling on on this forum.

We got our economist reports from the most senior firms in the money banking business. They still do it today. I am no longer in the loop for those reports but know how to get back in that loop.

Weather reports are definitely more accurate.

Nope, Robert, you have it backwards, my partisan friend.

None of what you cite professionally excuses what the GOP did from 1994 to 2006. That you can't admit the Republican greed and mistakes guts any professional expertise you claim in trying to protect the prty.

Our whole family began accumulating money in 2002 in big amounts, and when the crash came, we bought up homes and properties like crazy. We all have been living exceptionally well from our foresight. When Trump was elected we have began again and are set to accumulate more wealth, and are just waiting for GOP stupidity to pay off for us again. The dems did not block Fannie and Freddie. Anytime from 1994 to 2006, the Republican could have saved the country's bacon but the GOP porkers ate it all. And Bush helped them. Why can't you admit what happened, Robert?

You have created a shell of denial, Robert, and nothing more.

Jake you got rich off repuvblican mounted issues. Democrats worked hard to stop you in your tracks. Why you support them is amzing.

1994 to 2006? What specifically are you claiming?

Show me any republican greed and mistakes and I shall professionally analyze them and comment on every one of them.

In 2002 you spotted the market getting hotter. Naturally you do not mention how you did from 1994-2006. I have to be reminded of your demographic location. I am in Silicon Valley CA.

But you were getting richer when Bush was president.

And you wisely bought low to later sell high or retain for rentals. Rentals can be a good profit center.

Oh hell yes the Democrats blocked Bush from preventing the crash. I proved it. That you refuse to admit it brands you as the blind partisan.

Bush was not president from 1994 to 2001. But i am not really saying Bush caused the housing market to rise as it did, just that he did not collapse it.

I might try to pass some blame to Clinton yet that is not really productive.

Bush can't both warn Congress about a full dozen or more times and be bvlamed for what Congress refused to do. And Democrats blocked him.

Democrats admit to blocking Bush. Do you think they lied to you?

Robert, you made the claims that the minority dems caused it because of their protection of Freddy and Fanny.

Nope, the GOP had the majority and the Presidency and could have taken care of it, but, nope, Robert, wait for it . . . they did not.

Clearly you have a vendetta against me. You bought homes. I sold homes. I was hot in the investor market. I originated loans. i appraised homes for many lenders and on occasion for home owners for other purposes. When a family gets into divorce court, ordinarily the property is appraised by experts like I am.

I think as a buyer of real estate, you know a lot more than the typical Democrat. But not as much as we experts in this subject.

There is another poster who was an expert in this matter who totally agrees with me.
I have dealt with investors like you since 1971.

"Vendetta?" Oh, quit it. :) Bub, this is not about selling homes. This is about the GOP not protecting America when it could from the Great Recession. Robert, admit it: you have it wrong.

A minority can't block in the house, but when you study civics, you will learn they can in the Senate.

We would have solved FAnnie Mae but for the Democrats preventing it.

Say they let us solve it. Say after fixing Fannie Mae and Freddie, then it failed. Then one might blame republicans if what they did failed to work. Democrats stopped it.

I am quite serious Jake. Were I a doctor and warned you your belief would or could cause cancer as a non expert would you snub the doctor?

I understand the housing market totally. From sales to appraisals to lending. i have done all of that.
I bought homes too. But investors are not all that much of an expert. Some are more expert than you are Jake.

There was actually a global melt down. i make the case that a lot of foreign players played in our market as well. Do you blame any of them?

You played with housing you say since 2007. i have played with it since 1971. You are a beginner Jake who caught the market with cash at the right time.

Jake, the blocking done was in the Senate.

    107th United States Congress
    Senate Majority Democratic (until January 20, 2001) Republican (January 20, 2001 – June 6, 2001) Democratic (from June 6, 2001)

Robert, you can opine all you want, but that means nothing.

The GOP could have prevented the Great Recession; the minority Dems did not bring it on. They had until 2006 and had the majority.

Jake you are so partisan you flat do not believe Pelosi nor do you understand the Senate and how Democrat ran it and blocked Bush.

What would you have Bush do? use an executive order to save Fannie Mae? Freddie?

Gee Jake, he took over both. But once the Feds had control, guess who in the Senate had to change rules? Why are you pretending Democrats were so damned inept?

In a related thread, a Trump fan said, "The trade deficit with China is a problem."

No, that is another lie Trump has told to his base because they are the only ones who will believe it. Trump is counting on his fans not using their common sense.

Most of his fans know that our economy is much larger than China's. What exactly does that mean? It means that American consumers buy a lot more products than Chinese consumers. It means that it is only logical we will buy more from China than they buy from us. That accounts for the trade deficit.

And the trade deficit is not a problem. It is good thing because it speaks to the overwhelming superiority of the American economy over the Chinese economy. The products our importers buy from China account for the trade deficit and are bought by American consumers in our vibrant economy.

Trump wants you to believe the trade deficit is money we are losing to China. That is a lie. The trade deficit is the product differential between China and the much larger U.S. economy.

Considering the success of our economy and our full employment, I will ask again. What is the problem Trump's tariffs are supposed to be solving? Why is he placing inflationary pressures on our economy? Inflation leads to recession.

Trump thinks China pays the tariffs. ""Talks with China continue in a very congenial manner - there is absolutely no need to rush - as Tariffs are NOW being paid to the United States by China," he tweeted Friday.

Tariffs are paid by American importers who buy Chinese goods. The importers have two choices, absorb the expense or pass it along to American consumers. Generally, they do the latter.

Frankly I believe Trump is less concerned with the capital spent by the US vs the capital spent by China as such. I think he wants our country to have more work. As we now do it, we support China. China is not interested in helping us. Their profits in their own market show many of the Chinese got super rich selling to the USA. normally Democrats hate the rich. Seems they love rich men in China.

The partisanship is clearly that of Robert. He opines but he cannot support his assertion.

I so seldom get asked a professional question by any Democrat I wonder why i still talk to them about real estate economics

Take Jake, he tries to burn me down but has yet to ask a decent question about economics of real estate.

Trump's tariffs will feed the coming recession and make it worse.
