When Melania remained behind in NYC, the secret service had to have quarters in Trump Towers, had to be fed and had to have a place to park their vehicles. All that money, and it wasn't inconsequential, went directly into Trump's pocket from yours as a taxpayer.
There's so much more, like cash payments from people wanting face time with him, as president, to seeking favors by staying in Trump Hotels, etc.

The presidency has its privileges. LBJ had a fire pump and three large nozzles installed in a shower in the WH so that the water pressure could really blast him hard. You get to do stuff nobody else does when you're president. I guess he felt guilty about sending more troops to Vietnam already knowing that the USA was going to lose.
