That would be accurate if most of our scientists were Native Americans.

He is for small government and fewer regulations on businesses. Most businessmen are. I don't believe anyone considers Trump to be a "Republican". He's a Nationalist; an outsider.

The U.S. government has been bribing other governments' officials to impose American values into other countries for decades. Look no further than holding out $1 billion from the Ukraine to tamper with who the country independently chose as a prosecutor.

Or look at how we toppled dictators in the name of "freedom and democracy" when the dictators of those countries were of zero threat to the United States. What we did in Libya was nothing less than a war crime.

Yes, "moving goalposts" is a popular cliché for "We're moving them where we think they should be, which is not where they are now, nor where they have traditionally been."

Not sit down, shut up, and stop taking things out of your context of world history experience, while we move the goalposts towards "progress".

Except traditionally the US has ALWAYS been ethnically diverse. Surely you know this.

Ethnic diversity is quite successful when immigrants assimilate into the culture.

Ethic diversity starts to fall apart when we start pressing 1 for English and pressing 2 for Spanish. Ethic diversity starts to fall apart when Somalians migrate and self-isolate and self-segregate into cultural communities like "Little Mogadishu" in Minnesota. Ethic diversity starts to fail when blacks demand segregated college dormitories and separate graduation ceremonies.

Successful diversity demands that people agree on an American culture and identity, regardless where they migrated from. We are a diverse and successful country and will continue to be such, as long as we continue to pick and choose the migrants who are invited to come to America to be Americans. That currently includes about 1 million per year who become permanent residents and the millions of temporary workers who come to earn more money than they can earn in their own country. They send that money home to their families to provide a nice lifestyle in their own lower-cost-of-living country.

The Progressive's push for "open borders" is regressive and promotes a more natural instinctive separation and segregation of races and cultures. It does not promote the successful diversity and integration which we took decades to achieve and have enjoyed in the recent past and immediate present.

Yes, the country is going to fall apart because some black students asked for segregated dorms. My lord...

My grandfather and uncle's came to the US from Greece in the early 1900's....they sent money earned here back to those still in Greece. They weren't the only ones doing such.
In regards to temporary workers, I am with those who would like to see that stopped. But no one wants to do what I believe needs to be done to stop them from coming here temporarily. What is needed is to jail those who hire illegals (as well as deport the illegals they hired). Once that happens you'll see all those jobs offered to illegals dry up. No jobs, no reason to come here.

And Russia's diverse culture consists mainly of Anglo-Saxons with the common thread in the Russian culture being Christianity.

The size of China's more homogenous society and culture is not a counterpoint to the argument.

Yes, I know. :) I'm very much in favor of continued diversity with a continued high degree of assimilation of migrants into a unified American culture.

    You call this “very diverse”?

The 2010 census recorded 81% of the population as ethnically Russian, and 19% as other ethnicities: 3.7% Tatars; 1.4% Ukrainians; 1.1% Bashkirs; 1% Chuvashes; 11.8% others and unspecified.

Every group they listed was white. Even if ALL of the others were not white, that makes an 88.2% white majority. And I promise you the other 11% is mostly white as well.

Blacks demanding separate dorms and graduation ceremonies is simply an example of the "progressive" left's focus on a new segregation and tribalism. It is regressive, and is the opposite of the assimilation which caused diversity to thrive for at least the last 50-80 years in this country.

I was referring to legal temporary migrant workers. Those are workers whose employers obtain legal temporary work visas for a project or seasonal work. The worker fulfills the job duties and goes home to his family with a wad of cash, higher than what he can earn in his home country.

As far as the decades-long practice of illegal workers temporarily crossing the borders, the work agreement has been beneficial to both the employer and the employee. Though the migrant-employee earns less than minimum wage, he still earns far more than he could earn in his home country with fewer hours worked. Those work-for-cash pay agreements were willingly entered into by both parties.

There is significant pressure to stop the historical practice of illegal migrant workers and stopping is a double-edged sword. As you noted, jobs for millions of illegals will dry up, throwing their families deeper into poverty as they can't find similar work in their own country. Farmers who already produce food for the nation at a loss will require more government subsidies to accomplish what is an essential job at a higher expense and with fewer laborers.

The issue with migration isn't really with historical legal and illegal employment of migrants. Migration shifted a decade or so ago from temporary workers, mostly men, who kept their families fed, housed and otherwise supported in their nation. The notable shift was toward migration of entire families, and unaccompanied children, who are largely impoverished, illiterate and thus unemployable in their own country being promised a "much better permanent life" in the U.S., the land flowing with milk and honey. Thus, we have arrived at a national political battle over how we want to change, or not change, the composition and face of future immigration.

The RINO in chief had a RINO house and senate the first two years of his office. All that got done was Paul Ryan's tax code revision. That was it. No other legislation of any significance whatsoever: No health care, no infrastructure, no immigration reform....

The same way diversity always does, by giving us different ways to solve problems. It also adds interest to our cultures by showing us new things.

You guys must have the blandest cooking in the world.

It is very difficult for any president to shove anything through Congress, as the Senate requires a 60% majority vote on the most important legislation. Both parties have been roadblocked by making sweeping changes to the laws of the country due to that one Senate requirement. A majority is meaningless unless a president can enjoy a 60% or more majority in the Senate.

Both parties have accused each other of obstruction to "progress", but unless the Senate changes rules, it is what it is. Besides being very slow to make radical changes as the executive office regularly swings left-to-right-to-left-to right is not necessarily a bad thing.

Yet Trump is only very distantly acquainted with the truth, so distantly it appears he avoids it pathologically. How do you reconcile that?

While we are all products of our culture and our upbringing it is only by exceeding that upbringing rather than being it's slave that people become successful and achieve greatness. This is because all achievement is in the final analysis the actions of individual persons. Cultures do not exist, they are constructed abstractions like races and ethnic groups. INDIVIDUALS and the cultures that most encourage individuality are, paradoxically, the ones that have risen to be dominant in the world.

You haven't answered my last question because you can't. There is no really successful nation in the entire world that is one homogeneous culture

What are you talking about? The VAST majority of successful nations and empires in the history of the world have been homogenous. This little diversity experiment of ours is very short lived and is failing spectacularly.

Diversity is actually an invitation to inclusiveness. People who feel a part of something tend to be far more supportive of that something. The more you demand homogeneity the weaker you become because you are discouraging participation. "United we stand." A great slogan that has stood the test of time.

Really? Is that why hate for America is at its highest levels since inception?

And might I remind you that this country was built and founded by white people and governed and run by almost exclusively white people for the first 150 years of existence. We even had segregation for 100 of the last 150 years.

The idea that America was built on diversity is PATENTLY absurd.

Agreed, it's very much like our other slogan "e pluribus unum" "Out of many, one"

I agree with you on the value and merit of rugged individualism and self-motivation, regardless of culture or race.

You perhaps simply did not like or "approve of" my answer to your question on homogeneous cultures. That doesn't change my answer. China and Russia.....largely homogenous. Russia, mostly white and Christian. China, mostly the Han race with migrants also being primarily Asian, and the government actively interferes with religious diversity in that country.
