So, you believe the "anonymous State dept. official" source, as opposed to a guy that actually gives his name and indicates the correct stance on the matter?

I was wondering who she dropped me off her 5 for. Good choice. I keep telling her to wear more dresses and show off her legs.
Stop painting me as someone who paints everyone who dissagrees with me with the "right wingnut" paintbrush. Moreover...I know you are, but what am I. Furthermore...What about my statement made you think it's degrogatory for righties to justify the invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan?... Lastly...I have never used the term "wingnut", it's too cliche'
Unfortunately, this is the nature of "reporting" these days. I dislike anyone quoting unnamed sources. It makes it much too easy to fabricate bull(*)(*)(*)(*) and push an agenda. The media has nearly completely lost its journalistic integrity.
I think lie may have been too harsh of a description on tex's part, since maybe you interpreted what Bush said differently, but: That's part of that "Mission Accomplished" speech, and, essentially the gist of it...
I know the admin floats trial balloons to gauge public opinion. This is exactly the case here. Obama wants to be able to declare some successes - he's can't run on his record, so he's trying to create one. It went over like a lead balloon. .
It's America's unconditional support of Israel which has given rise to much of the antipathy to America from the Muslim Middle East. I would have thought that much was obvious.
Yep, the same atmosphere of paranoia and fearmongering existed during the Cold War when the 'Great Communist Conspiracy' was the bogeyman du jour. Of course no such conspiracy existed, but the propaganda worked as well then as it is doing now.
IMO...the only thing that should matter is whether or not we are threatened by anti western terrorists in the US. The rest of the world should be on it's own. After all, if every other country in the world attacked the US today, we'd win! As for terrorism...it's not a military threat, it's an ideology, and you can't stop people from hating the US...and the existance of terrorists is not Obama's fault
Reading that was like being placed in a duffel bag full of rocks and rolled down the stairs... Lots of noise, and, really painful...
That's fine... But, I'd prefer to hear something like this from a named source, as opposed to an "anonymous source," before assuming it were true... *shrug*
I understand where you're coming from, but the source was off the record on purpose. That's how the game of politics is played.
*shrug* Politics are indeed funny, but, anonymity about something like this still makes me skeptical...
