She was fairly popular as a Senator. Apparently she was a decent Sec of State. And she is probably the most qualified candidate to ever run for office. She might have done okay.

Trump actively seeks to divide the nation and turn Americans against each other. She wouldn't have done that.

Loving your country and approving of everything it does are two completely separate things.

Loving your country? Even territorial animals do that...

So I'm not sure what you mean; I would say if you love your country (the US), you would promote an international rules based system to ease the massive burden of funding the DoD as 'world policeman'....unless you are making a quid out of the military-industrial complex.....See how 'self-interest' works, without rule of law.)

If you love your country, you engage the debate, you stay informed, and you vote.

    A reasoned reply.

Unfortunately, most people don't (are not equipped to) take those things seriously . That's a problem with democracy; and when it comes to international affairs, jingoism hides ignorance. ("Truth is the first casualty in war").

Feel free to contribute to the debate....

My country never would have elected trump. It was a betrayal of the social contract that binds the nation. You don't elect thugs and wanna-be tyrants. That makes the people who elected him a direct threat to me, rather than fellow citizens. His supporters flushed that all down the toilet. Trump is an enemy of everything we stood for. He is an enemy of the Constitution.

The system failed because the people who elected trump rejected essential decency. If that's what they want, then the nation I loved is dead.

Maybe they have a different idea of what this country stands for and believes in.

Tattoos. Sigh... most young women have them now. To me, a tattoo on a beautiful woman is just graffiti masking a work of art.

That is abundantly obvious now. That's why disbanding the union is the only reasonable solution left. I know a lot of righties are chomping at the bit for a civil war. But that would be horrific for all concerned. It is best to just agree that we now have irreconcilable differences and the States all need to go their own way. Perhaps a union of separate states that still maintains a common defense... But most of the Federal Government and the Office of President have to go. Most of all, the Office of President is too dangerous to be allowed to exist. Trump has proven that in spades.

I didn't get the trump thing for a long time. But now I do. This is no longer one nation.

The nation you loved also elected Obama - twice. Why? For the same reasons they elected Trump, essentially. The two of them have different approaches to our nation's problems, but the people elected them because they are looking for someone who will do good for the country. I did not help elect Obama. But I never stopped loving our country and its people during the Obama years. And, I shall never forget all of those who came before us who sacrificed and worked to give us this nation. Temporal politics have zero effect on my love of country.

I don't think that even half of Trump's supporters thought he was going to be half as bad as he has turned out . He was given a chance by most people. I remember Tom Hanks saying "I hope he's so good that even I will vote for him next time" There is the concept of "growing in the Office". Unfortunately, Trump shrank. Much more distressing are his followers, and the prospects of his getting a second term.

How was Bill Clinton corrupt? Please be specific. How did Obama divide us? Specifically?

i HATE country music. It is so totally fake and affected. Except for country music singers and some televangelists I have NEVER met anyone who actually talks that way. It is the Professional Wrestling of Music

I cannot fathom people who like to go to Church, even when I was a "believer" it was still a totally BORING thing to do.

You can’t think that way about Cold, cold heart? Surely?

Agree about Church. It’s a place for people who can’t think for themselves. A way to control the plebs.

Agreed. It is gross, looks dumb and I even think the sleazy steams it creates toxifies the air more than an ordinary cigarette does.

Nah...better that you all study economics, philosophy, religion, politics and history - and then realise that which unites is stronger than which divides (difficult, but there it is).

Civilisation is a race between education and catastrophe. H G Wells.
