The Wall would be about the biggest boondoggle that we've ever built. It would be very helpful to whatever Mexicans figure a way to easily go around it, over it, or most likely in my estimation, under it. It will send a strong signal that Americans are fracking idiots willing to let a con man take them for several more billions that we should be spending to keep our bridges from falling down.

The wall can be built electronically and it would cost less than about a week's worth of the troops we deploy there now, but if we do that we won't be able to give about 50 billions to Dirty Donnies favorite contractors

No.... obviously I think America should have acted ethically. Instead they "forced" (correct word usage if you are wondering) South American countries to take out large debts to build infrastructure by American companies (money for the US economy), they paid bribes to dictators and cronies and murdered those who wouldn't take it, destroyed the Amazon (no Jeff Bezos is still standing) the population got nothing for their resources... South America is poor... this is still going on with China now doing the same.

Now you come along and yell "Communism!!!!" really...after all these years... you still do that?

And what is there now is better? What WOULD be there now? Vietnam is certainly not a communist hellhole, nor is Albania, Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia or anyy of the former communist countries, Hell, RUSSIA isn't an oppressive dystopia any more. What we said was RIGHT communism REALLY doesn't work but maybe that means what we should have done was just let that show itself and we WASTED all those lives and money FIGHTING it. But that's fine, you keep right on fighting a war that should never have been fought, whatever gets you through the day.

It's all about oil again? For years they blamed United Fruit. In fact "It's all about fruit" was the leftist rallying cry for decades.

It was a Cold War, not a 'hot' war.

Over 100 million died under Communism. Whatever is in Latin America (I'm there now) is better than anything under that evil machine.

What's your point? These people shouldn't escape a terrible situation because at least it isn't Communism?

With Bush it was war for oil and Bush family oil buddies now it's Trump's wall for favorite contractors. You guys have the same script over and over with new names and new villians.

All the examples of US interference in South America you previously gave were part of the cold war and the Soviet Union attempt to take over that entire continent. If you want to blame somebody blame them. Really though you should do some homework on the UK, Spain and Portugal and the devastating effects on South America their colonization efforts had on the entire continent. So much easier to just blame the US for everything everywhere though isn't it.

We don't need a wall, what we need is a change in our laws so that there are no more anchor babies draining our welfare system and give law enforcement the legal ability to immediately deport anyone found to be in the US illegally. No more of the ACLU 'demanding' we give the illegals their 'rights', no more dragging out deportation hearings for years.
Find an illegal immigrant and ask "Are you in the US illegally?", if the answer is yes then they have admitted to a Federal crime and the only possible sentence for that crime is deportation.

No I'm not simply blaming America for everything... learning the truth about America has been hard work and evolutionary for me... I can only be grateful that I managed to be open minded and not continue to yell the same creed as everyone else over and over again.... America First!!! America the best..... now I know why....it came at the cost of everyone else.

I've strewn links and sources all over the forum... I'm not here to convince you of anything because I understand how difficult it is to make that mental shift..... there are days when I wished I was still ignorant.

Then why is everybody leaving it now? Why were and are many countries ruined by the wars we fought to "save" them from "socialism"?

It's always been my contention that communism used our very opposition to keep themselves in power. The Iranians do it now and we American people still swallow it

Why did we overthrow a moderate socialist (Allende) to install what most say was one of the worst dictators Chile has ever known

Even in THIS country we do that. As I've said before several times I LIKE capitalism and most capitalists/business owners but that doesn't mean I follow it like a religion. That doesn't mean I think business owners should be worshipped and especially they should not be free to swindle us and poison our environment. I don't care how much good it does the Stock Market

And in Latin America we've been even worse. Instead of moderate social democracies often elected by the people we have screamed "communism" and then installed dictators who promised us and particularly business people "freedom" but delivered instead untrammeled Kleptocracies where cronys were "free" to rob EVERYONE blind, business owner and worker alike. In their wake we see failed nations struggling with gangs and economies in shambles

That was a really bad guess. If you read the post I was responding to you'd understand quite quickly.

    Can you be more specific?
Because Allende would have created a civil war. Most Chileans, apart from Leftists, understand Pinochet created modern Chile and then retired. Chile then became the wealthiest country in Latin America, free and prosperous without a civil war.
Free democracies are not the great polluters non-democracies are. No one is asking that you worship business owners, as far as I can tell.

No problem because you still are. You really need to do some research on the effects colonization of South American by the big three of the era had on the continent centuries ago and how that led to complete breakdown of society culminating in Simon Bolivar and his attempt to liberate the continent from Europe.
I would suggest reading this book to get a real understanding. You might see things in a new light with your expanded horizons.

Nicaragua is a mess and people are fleeing it for the US.

"There was a time when Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega was the face of revolution in his country.

Now, 39 years after Ortega overthrew Nicaragua’s dictator in the Sandinista rebellion, he’s the one trying to put out the fires of revolution among an angry group of protesters calling for his ousting.

Almost 300 people have been killed in Nicaragua since demonstrations against Ortega’s rule erupted three months ago, in a series of bloody conflicts between government forces and activists in the Central American country of six million."

Do you mean the thousands he tortured, executed and imprisoned, those 'Leftists?"

How was Allende creating a civil war?

Just because I note that Capitalists in America want to poison us all doesn't mean I approve of the many socialist/communist governments that actually have. The Soviet Union in particular is just full of ecological disasters and those should serve as examples to us. (by examples I mean what we should NOT do rather than what some conservatives seem to think, as things we should try and do ourselves)

If you don't think that some conservatives think we should worship businessmen and permit them nearly any transgression I submit that you've not been reading this board very much, Hell, you've not been reading many Trumphumpers at all really.

That happens to lots of revolutionaries, going back to Robespierre and Danton.

"The Revolution is a whore, she eats her own children" some guy in a movie; had Burt Lancaster and some girl who never said no
