Oh man, am I excited to see the Daily Show/Colbert Report's takeoff on this!

While the Senator was technically right about the rarity of impregnation after rape, his implication was misleading and insensitive. Pregnancies that occur due to rape are not halted in any significant way by biological defenses in the female body… In fact there are tens of thousands of resulted pregnancies because of this atrocious crime.

Furthermore, why does the rarity of the issue have any sway in this debate? Especially when we’re talking about rape victims? Your justification for controversial action should not be: “Well, it only affects a very small minority of the population.” Instead, you should stop dodging the question and give a firm answer with rationale justification. Otherwise you are just using extremely faulty logic which shouldn’t be taken seriously. I may feel similarly about life and abortion, but the Senator should not have said that. And what do you know? It turns out he didn’t mean it after all:

Try to stick with the facts next time, Senator. You won't dig yourself into a hole next time.

All of my quotations were taken from this article: http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.co...-legitimate-rape-rarely-results-in-pregnancy/

Very clumsy way to approach the abortion issue.

Sometimes I wish these social conservative collectivist types would just ****, and focus ONLY on what brought us to the dance....individual rights, liberty and ECONOMIC FREEDOM. Everytime they trot out their abortion bull(*)(*)(*)(*), progressive leftists...ECONOMIC COLLECTIVISTS.... exploit it for all it's worth... whipping up fear narratives that turn people off to the ONLY side that is pushing for fiscal sanity and sustainablity, accountability, lower taxes, less intrusive, less expensive, constitutionally limited central government

I get so frustrated with outspoken "single issue" morons.

Well....now that's a FINE, FINE typical example of any right winger. You can't get pregnant when you're raped...consistently republican and completely disconnected from the world.

America needs more Republicans like Todd Akin. Seriously, it makes getting Democrats elected that much easier. :D

    That is weird.

I don't think he should be in charge of anything.

Considering that I am convinced his republican party contributes as much to crime in USA as the other side of the coin, I believe he should be sentenced to be raped for insulting rape victims.
