It's become clear today that Ukraine missed their opportunity to launch their offensive in their desired direction while the Russian Forces were preoccupied in Bakhmut. However, the Russian Army has moved and reallocated forces towards these areas to cover weak spots and under-manned fortifications. One direction Ukraine still seems intent on taking, with the help of its new equipment, is Soledar, but Russia has had time to set up barriers, as well as move it's fresh Army battalions forward. Ukraine has lost the element of surprise, because Russia saw them moving troops and new equipment towards this area. The fact that their new tanks, vehicles and anti-aircraft systems arrived late, and the relatively poor weather, seriously hampered this plan. Zelensky is still waiting for more ammunition.

Moreover, Ukraine has launched an unsuccessful probes in the direction of Russian-Controlled Luhansk and Zaporizhzhia to test weak spots. One group of 100 men and multiple vehicles got wiped when they Orikhiv. As reported a couple of months ago, Russia has built a series of defensive lines with safe supply lines around this area, and recently moved Wagner Contractors to bolster the quality of its manpower. Another problem with the Zaporizhzhia direction is that the Ukrainians have to attack over open terrain.

This last week, Ukraine reported that Russia stalled in its Bakhmut Offensive despite gradually taking bits of the city each day. It has been suggested that this 'stall' happened cause In response Russia's awareness of Ukraine's planned offensive. Ukraine has essentially announced that they would start it upon receipt of additional weapons.

The situation for Ukraine is completely different from the Kharkiv Offensive. Russia didn't have many troops in Kharkiv, and they were outnumbered at least 5-1. Now they have regulars and the numbers are balanced. Russia only had two weeks to prepare for the Kharkiv Offensive, but this time Russia has had plenty of warning.

This Offensive is a huge gamble. I can't imagine Ukraine and its allies are feeling confident right now.

And what exactly makes you think Ukraine's offensive, when launched will be at any of the locations you've identified? Point being the confrontation line is long and there are multiple axis along which Ukraine can choose to advance (presuming of course it can first breach Russia's defenses).

Why would the NY Times apologize if it was publishing propaganda? Propagandists don't apologize. They don't even acknowledge what they do. Cf. Kremlin-controlled media such as RT.

Apparently it is MSNBC that Phil Donahue was fired from. You can't call that censorship, however, since there was no government involvement. Cable news is overly biased and opinionated, and at times it can be propaganda-like, but again it's not under government control, so it would not be right to call what they put on their opinion programming propaganda, at least in the traditional sense.

But more to the point, we have countless media outlets and no censorship of them by the government, because the government has no legal authority to impose censorship on them. They choose for themselves what they want to publish and consumers choose for themselves what they want to consume, and when it comes to news coverage, it's all generally accurate, and as you yourself indicated, they self-correct when they make mistakes.

It is all a far cry from countries where journalists are murdered or jailed for speaking the truth.
