This one is near the top of my list. A great Exposé of 19th century reality and the ongoing clash of the classes...
A good film with an outstanding cast. That scene when Morgan is shot during the thunderstorm is absolute cinema magic
That's exactly why there's a team inbound... Indirect assault only works if you get away with it...
Na - direct assault especially with a Led Zeppelin sound track Or Heart

Second rate - mine has spaceships!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!! At 2.52 is the only real special effect error in the film - just to add the trivia
Lol! Who needs spaceships...
Of course Shatner was trying to cash in on the craze started by this film
It was a great two years for hollywood... We're gonna need a bigger boat I think....
What is funny - In 1977 this was thought (within the industry) to be the potential big science fiction hit of the year. A really good book - terrible film
Hard to say... Have you seen the whole film?
Tombstone is a classic, absolutely love the movie. One of the few westerns that make it to my list of favorite movies.
Tombstone is one of my favorite movies of all time. I find myself watching at least one scene from that movie every week. One time by buddies and I were at a bar and we just randomly decided to get up and act out the showdown when Doc and Ringo first met. Complete with latin trash talking and everything. The whole bar just started laughing and cheering lol. Great times.
I think High Noon is better, but I have always been a fan of films where the narrative is in real time. I saw Outland when I was a kid and I remember liking the story. I remember the general premise but they hardly ever play it so I'll have to look it up. Looking at the synopsis though I like the storyline. Gary Cooper/High Noon, I prolly watched it with my grandpa when I was a kid but I was too young to critique it. I'm just starting to go back and review classics with my new glasses. Thanks Oz, I'll check it out.
Really? I saw no clash or class struggle in this movie at all. IT was based on a real historic event sure but not an expose of reality. For example the way the cowboys were painted as a gang with red sashes like modern gang colors was made up out of thin air The opening narrative even claims they emeraged as the first example of organizaed crime in America also made up. But I agree it is a great movie Val Kilmer's Doc Holiday is the ultimate wing man dude
Great flick....but one thing always gets lost in the shuffle...and that's the under-appreciated acting skills of Michael Biehn. When he turns on the "crazy eyes" as Johnny Ringo, it's a literal transformation and the character is more than just a "mad dog killer", but a deeply troubled man. As "Doc" said "angry at the world for being born". BTW, the real history of the Earps vs. the Cowboys was more political. The Cowboys weren't just some "gang", they represented the ranchers in the area and had a rather LIBERTARIAN view of the West. Law enforcement, townships, and the coming statehood of the formerly "frontier territories" were encroaching on the "Do anything ya want" attitudes of the cowboys. They especially opposed the gun restrictions in Tombstone (put in place, as we see in the movie, due to too many drunken gun fights and threats to local civilians). The Earps, as Marshalls, represented state and FEDERAL power and law enforcement. Remember? The actual reason for the shootout at the OK Corral....was Behan failing to enforce the town's gun law on Claibourne, et al. and Virgil, Morgan, Wyatt and Doc (summarily deputized) going to enforce it. Rather interesting given current political sentiments on Government power, gun regulation, etc. Yes?
