America has been being weakened by division since Obama's presidency. Do you think Russians played a role in that too? Sadly it is not entirely outside forces wanting to weaken our country, and it is not entirely outside forces only who are anti-America. The #resist movement against Trump is divisive as well. This battle over border security and the government shutdown is all about divisiveness at this point. It's even been claimed that the government shutdown will cost more than the amount requested for "the wall", but Schumer and Pelosi are so vindictive and petty they still won't budge. Or do you think Schumer and Pelosi are Russian puppets?

They are burning out the people they don't like and building a rail system to import the people they do.

Why do democrats prop up Russia's allies like Iran?

Was that what Obama meant when he told Putin he was getting flexible with him?

PG&E's main problem is the Dems in Cali set price controls on the company and won't allow them to actually charge the needed rate to main the system. Socialism always fails

If I had a few extra billion, about 20, I'd take advantage of looser regulations in neighboring NV where land is cheap and government owned. l would lease enough brown land to build mega watt nuke reactors and then sell it to CA. It's cheap and clean power without quite as many socialists crying about their precious environment.

I lived in Portland, Oregon and got my power from a different company: PGE (Pacific General Electric). It cost 12¢ per kWh. There was a ballot measure to convert it to a PUD and PGE spend hugely to stop it. The stupid voters fell for it and PGE rates kept going up.

I moved out of town where it turned out that my power was supplied by a local PUD. My cost dropped to 6.2¢ per kWh.

I get power from a Co-Op. I averaged 231 KWH/day in Dec. My house is all electric, furnace, etc. 400 amp service. Dec. & Jan. are the coldest months. My Dec. bill was $380.00. Heat is most expensive. AC in the summer. Power bill is $90.00-120/mo. I have my own well and septic that use some power but much less expensive than any monthly municipal service.

It's only 3pm, but that's the funniest thing I'll read all day.... what land do you live in where you think that clean drinking water needs to be labeled a liberal "right"

They are closing the last nuclear plant in California in 2024 (Diablo Canyon, PGE). That with the closure of San Onofre means California now must import $1 Billion in carbon emission energy each and every year moving forward. So much for California's green initiative. This goes 100% against the Global Warming crowd and the morons in charge likely don't get it, or don't care.

California cannot manage anything. Giving them the control over the energy market is going to be just another California train wreck. You don't believe me? Buy a gallon of gas in California and tell me where it's more expensive in the U.S.

The U.S. is demonstrating almost effortlessly how illusory is the idea that any other country or group of countries can challenge its pre-eminence

The United States will not be the world’s premier chump anymore. The most enthusiastic support the United States is receiving in its trade stance with China is from China’s neighbours, from India to Japan.

Through it all, the United States, appearing to be disorderly, its establishment and media at war with the occupant of the White House, is demonstrating almost effortlessly how illusory is the idea that any other country or group of countries can challenge its pre-eminence among the world’s nations. Canadians may not like it; the world may try to pretend otherwise, but however the domestic political tides of America may flow, North Korea is on its best behaviour, the ayatollahs are quaking in their voluminous raiment, and all America’s trade partners, including Canada and China, are accepting what amounts to unilateral renegotiation by the U.S. No other country in the world has any appreciable influence at all more than a few hundred miles from its borders (an area that includes 95 per cent of the population of Canada).

Considering all the taxes and fees involved, that's 5.3¢ per kWh.
    Hooray for coops and PUDs!!

It's Right all right, at least in CA and of course the lib supported UN.

"The U.S. Code contains thousands of mentions of water, but no where does it state that water is a human right. In fact, the only such statement I could find in the whole of U.S. law is in the California Water Code, which boldly declares that “every human being has the right to safe, clean, affordable, and accessible water.” Two sentences later, however, the code undercuts its guarantee with a teeny detail: The government doesn’t have to actually provide the water."

Yeah, as close to utopia as it gets, still not pure democracy It is one example that works probably because it is not overly government regulated. They actually send me a rebate check most years if they end up with a surplus.

My small rural Co-Op happens to be well established and managed. I know of another more regulated incorporated community about 60 miles from me who chose to buy into a power co-op. It meant they all had to invest in a new gas power plant being built out of state. Their investment went sour with huge building cost over runs so for the next 10-20 years they will pay upwards of 400% more than the only other power company that serves most of the state.

Not surprising to me from my experience. CA especially coastal areas & Palm Springs/Palm Desert and Manhattan, NYC are 2 of the most screwed up places to build anywhere in the USA.

As for the price of gasoline, the only place I know that is much higher than normal besides CA is Aspen, CO.

I am serious but your choice of divisive threads generally are not.

Dont criticize me...just look at the comments by other people.
You will notice that, apart from the OP ALL other comments are by Americans....
They are the people who disagree with you....

It's a political discussion forum.....the threads you choose to post are all divisive topics trying to divide Americans. That's my opinion from what I have seen since I have become a member. The people that disagree are entitled to do so but it should be based on facts and truth. But I am straying from the thread topic now, thanks.

I'd just like to paraphrase your post:

"Something bad happened. I blame the politicians that I hate."

It is a comforting but intellectually lazy approach to problem solving.

Only you can answer that. As for America being divided enough, some want it to go further. Really stupid when you consider "divided we fall".
