    Dr. Craig Roberts:

“My prediction or expectation is by winter, the second downturn of the Great Recession will be in place.
    Unemployment will explode,
    more foreclosures are coming.
It’s going to be worse than the Great Depression.”

That's not all! He also says:

“The country is not being run by the President.
It is being run by spy agencies and
    private interest groups,
    Israel lobby,
    Monsanto,
    Wall Street and
military security complex . . . They run the country.
The President is a puppet, a figurehead.”

How could this happen? Dr. Roberts contends:

"If you are a lawless state, which the United States is, it obeys no international law.
It does not obey the Geneva Convention . . .
    It tortures people.
    It doesn’t obey the Constitution.
    It doesn’t obey anything.
It does what it wants. . . .
If you are a lawless state, you disguise yourself as a democracy.”

Former President Jimmy Carter agrees. Last week, Carter said:

“The U.S. has no functioning democracy at this moment.”

I ask, is that all true? I live in Canada and worry that, if the US is going down, we Canadians will likely follow.
The other threat is, the US might try to eliminate Russia and China to achieve total world hegemony - its their lust for power, says Dr. Roberts, that would drive, because China and Russia are at the moment still weak and vulnerable.
That means they would not hesitate to use their atomic bombs and destroy both countries.

Do you think they are capable to actually do that?
I would like to know who "they" are, if it isn't Obama?

When people realize that the Federal Reserve will not be able to keep lending out money at virtually zero interest rates, and when people realize how much money the Federal Reserve has actually issued...

Personally, I do not believe the recession (and the causes leading up to it) can be truly understood outside the context of the unprecedented amount of immigration the USA has taken in over the last 3 decades. The population of the USA has grown 40% since 1980. This has put a strain on the availability of employment, and the economy has not been able to expand fast enough to accommodate all these extra people.

Europe dreams of having the influx of workers we have, our productivity depends on replacing older workers with new younger ones. Nothing the doomsday sayers have predicted have come true since the beginning of the Obama administration. The past 2 months the US budget has been in the black and the deficit has been cut dramatically even with a do-nothing congress. So much of the economy depends on the perception of future prosperity and the confidence that goes with it. Our economy is by no means recovered but it can withstand some down-turn in certain sectors, but if you really want to know how to tell if and when the economy is taking off, watch for new housing starts.

An increasing amount of money going to a decreasing number of people, isn't this the essence of capitalism ?

Yes. It's hierarchical, the capital is gathered in the top.

What Dr. GR says is almost the same as other media and poitics are saying, it is propaganda that causes fear, uncertainty and thus resistance in the people (but it can really happen, but since y2k it was only but propaganda) People in fear and uncertainty start to resist (actually, defend themselves, people group together to become stronger, their organsation, which was caused, because capitalism and propaganda and politics was caused, created)
And when tough times will really come, persons that warned (via the media, so to millions of people) in the time before a tough time (currently), will be trusted (because they spoke truth), and can politically gain in a short time. When trusted you will see more and more organisation, rising larger groups of people (system has setup many organisations, looks the same as the unions) Organisation via parties and/or unions (organisations which were not setup by common people, but by the powers at be) can end freedom.

There have been, (I think) 13 Administrations since WWII.

EVERY SINGLE ONE had multiple guys predicting the imminent return of the Great Depression.

The ONLY time I saw anything even close to that actually happening was after the American public was overwhelmingly stupid enough to vote a Republican President and Congress into office together, and what did happen caught this group of economic geniuses entirely by surprise. I mean, who would have thought we'd get bubbles after they repealed the legislation which was specifically meant to prevent them?

Since then they've spent their entire time either blaming a guy eight years gone or their successors, while trying to reinstitute the policies which failed worse than any others that have been tried since the 1930's. Meanwhile, we recover, slowly, and largely DESPITE their intransigent efforts to screw everything up again.

Yeh, right, I'm gonna listen to this guy, and 17 year olds attack older armed men who outweigh them by a hundred pounds.
