This article is short, sweet and 100% reflects my sentiments on the subject. Trayvon Martin Case: Did We Learn Anything From The Duke Lacrosse Trial? I still don't know all the facts and will not make a judgement, but for certain I think we're looking at another media debacle on par with the Duke Lacrosse case. The similarities in these cases are uncanny as more information comes out. You got the black victim, and white suspect(s). A media frenzy followed with the NY Times and others printing articles every day. Cries of racism are heard daily, prior to the facts of case coming out. And yet this time around the media may be behaving even more nefariously. For Trayvon Martin, a very innocent looking picture of a younger Trayvon is being put next to a very mugshot-like photo of Zimmerman. An almost angelic images was being painted of Trayvon, yet we're now learning he was a very troubled teen, involved in drugs, burglary, and was at the very least a gangster wannabe. He was portrayed as a 140 lb. weakling, but later learned to be a 6'3" football player (I very much doubt he was 140 lbs.). It was originally reported that he was tracked down by Zimmerman and shot in cold blood as he screamed for help which was caught on a 911 call. Now it turns out Zimmerman was actually the one on the bottom screaming for help as Trayvon was smashing his head on the sidewalk after initially breaking Zimmerman's nose. Injuries to the back of Zimmerman's head and grass stains on his back corroborate his testimony. But more importantly, eyewitnesses corroborate it. It is still possible Zimmerman was guilty of a crime, but no evidence for that has arisen yet. Zero! Virtually every aspect of Zimmerman's story has been corroborated. When evidence does arise of a crime I'll be the first to acknowledge it. The article is very short and to the point, so i'll past it here. If you've forgotten the "Duke Lacrosse case," allow me or Wikipedia to refresh your memory. In March 2006, Crystal Magnum accused three Duke University lacrosse players of raping her at a party. She also complained of racial insults, and the prosecuting attorney in the case suggested it might be a hate crime. The story produced a media firestorm. The New York Times started its coverage with a front page story, and published roughly an article a day on the case over the next month, to give an example from just one major media outlet. The media coverage resulted in large protests, and the lacrosse team itself and just about everyone affiliated with its members suffered from threats of violence and vandalism of their property. Over time, an investigation was performed. DNA tests undertaken, and inconsistencies in Magnum's story came to light. Finally, in April 2007, the attorney general of North Carolina dropped all charges against the players, saying they had been the victims of a "rush to judgement." No kidding. Oh how little we have learned. Today we have the case of Trayvon Martin, shot by George Zimmerman that much, at least, seems beyond dispute. Zimmerman claims he acted in self defense one witness says he saw Martin on top of Zimmerman before the shooting. If that is what happened, then this story, however unfortunate, probably doesn't deserve to be national news, certainly doesn't deserve around-the-clock coverage. But others have suggested that Zimmerman was motivated by racism and attacked without provocation, and the media has been only to happy to make that possibility national news. And what is the result? There have been massive protests. Zimmerman has been threatened (and his address has been tweeted), police involved in the case have been threatened. And now the Black Panthers have offered a $10,000 reward for his capture. All of this, remember, for a man who might be innocent of a crime the media has rushed to judgement yet again. Now, it's quite possible that Zimmerman is guilty of everything his worst foes accuse him of. There is plenty about this case that troubles me. But that's exactly the point I don't know. Neither does anyone else, and both the scope and tone of the media coverage ought to reflect that fact.
They LOVE racial strife too much to wait for the investigation. Now, they have damaged their horrible reputations even more. How awesome is that? And, on the eve of Obama's defeat by landslide. The progressive movement is heading for the political wilderness. Couldn't happen to a better bunch of losers. _
we learned, as long as you are the liberal martyr... conservatives aren't allowed to question the background of their martyr. The Duke lacrosse bish cost a coach his job.... got a team disbanded, and forced the kids to transfer from a prestigious school all prior to the fact that she actually made up the story of rape. Same thing here.... Trayvon is being exposed as a thug, and that Zimmerman's gut instict about this drug possessing, vandalizing kid was accurate
The alternative media needs to go back and detail the journalists that blew this out of all proportion. There needs to be a public cry for their firings. That's how we shut this crap down for good. _
Dude go back to tawana Bradley and same (*)(*)(*)(*). The white duke players were labeled as racist and guilty from the get go, and even made up white folks were guilty as well because Of lying lil racist like tawana Bradley said so. Liberals and blacks need racism to survive, it's how low they have gotten.
Yes. We learned to jump to conclusions and politicize a tragic incident before all the facts were out...
When exploiting the victim/oppressor dichotomy is the foundational strategy of advancing one's centrally planned "social justice" ideology... no lesson is ever absorbed, no eye ever diverted in shame.... just a whistling sound as they guiltlessy slink past the ruins... on the way to their next manufactured social "inequity".
How far back should I go when it comes to being convicted and not guilty. Scottsboro Boys, Emmitt Till, Charles Stuart, Susan Smith, Central Park 5, etc. etc.
........and when the facts are out and are diametrically opposed to ones utterances - to never apologise but use the First Amendment as a valid reason for besmirching the innocent.
Blah-blah, blah-blah, blah-blah...you really hate Caucasians don't you? How sad. It is a shame to waste a life on hate. So go ahead, keep the hate alive...you're doing a great job!
Wow looky there, seems both races have had bull(*)(*)(*)(*) trials and recently. (*)(*)(*)(*) it's not just black folk who are painted with guilt before trial? (*)(*)(*)(*) kinda goes against ur Lil stint of how only blacks are discriminate against. But I know, the only way you and other racists will be happy is if we charge all non blacks with hate crimes if the kill or hurt a black, self defense or not. Gotcha dude.
You are aware that we have libel laws in this country? The First Amendment is not a valid reason, much less legal grounds, to slander the innocent...
Because he only picks what suits him. There are thousands of others to chose from but he goes directly to long ago hate crimes, trying to interject that into our current lives. That's baiting at best.
Then why haven't countless lawsuits been taken out against Nancy Grace who wouldn't know the truth if it jumped up and scratched her eyes out?
Some of those was true lynch mobs not a patient response to cops who just didn't give a dam about this young man or his family.
...........if they have the money, of course. Isn't libel and slander litigation horrendously expensive?
