It's very funny how people, especially here in the United States, attempt to speak about a people and a religion of a place they have never been to, or people they have never interacted with, and act like they have a better understanding of every facet of their lives. Muslim's this, Muslim's that, Sharia this, Sharia that... All they are doing is looking on the internet, mining for the worst crimes and atrocities present in any nation, and posting it- openl calling for some kind of extermination of Muslims while trying to appear as if coming from some moral high ground. Everyone wants to be Luke, and every Luke needs a Vader...
Whereas the killing of 'infidels' is tolerated if not encouraged. Add in some hardline reasoning about what constitutes Islam and what doesn't, and I think your confusion will clear up right quick.
