Trump’s Facebook and Instagram ban to be lifted, Meta announces

In a highly anticipated decision, Meta has said it will allow Donald Trump back on Facebook and Instagram following a two-year ban from the platforms over his online behavior during the 6 January insurrection.

Meta will allow Trump to return “in coming weeks” but “with new guardrails in place to deter repeat offenses”, Meta’s president of global affairs Nick Clegg wrote in a blogpost explaining the decision.


“Like any other Facebook or Instagram user, Mr Trump is subject to our community standards,” Clegg wrote.

“In the event that Mr Trump posts further violating content, the content will be removed and he will be suspended for between one month and two years, depending on the severity of the violation.”

There's no such thing as a right to make someone publish your statements for you if they don't want to do so. In fact, there's a right to not have to do so. It's the right who is attacking actual rights in this case: both 1A and property rights.

You failed to read. No, it wasn't "for the same problems." Meaning they aren't comparable. Meaning you are the one engaging in false equivocation. Trump lied non-stop on Facebook and never got banned for doing so. He was banned for what he said on Jan 6th.

 

Convenient equivocation. Joe Biden has said repeatedly that he is unaware of his son's criminal behavior. He is actively compromising national security in sharing classified documents with his son, and that information is flowing out the door to foreign governments, not our friends...

If Facebook banned, say, JeanPiere because she actively shares misinformation, lies to the press daily, and then posts publicly about it, from your posts, you'd be ok that happened then, right?
