I eat beans and rice a lot and buy ground turkey on sale and stock up. You can make great chili with turkey, you just cant overcook it. You have to simmer everything but the turkey and let in go for awhile, then add the already cooked and crumbled turkey. Stir it in and simmer for another 5, you're good.

Dean Foods is a typical story of any large company that loses market share due to changing demand (people are drinking less milk) without changing with the times by downsizing. They cannot support their own size so go into debt betting on a better future and cannot fund their own pensions.

Then 700k people being taken off food stamps when 1.4 people have been lifted out of poverty in 2019 isn't a bad look.

    It's a good one.

I'm talking about the people being taken off. Is that just a number to you? Every action has a reaction. People will be hurt because of this.

    No. They won't.

Those 700k people no longer need food stamps.

The ideal number of people needing foods stamps is zero.

People are working again and wages of the bottom 50% of income earners are going up faster than they have in decades.

There is no reason people who are under 50, don't have kids, and have no disabilities should be on food stamps......and these would be the people who would need them the least, and for the shortest period of time.

There will be people, including children, that will go hungry when/if this policy is enacted.

What stuns me is the fact that THIS is Trump's big initiative during an impeachment. That is HARDCORE playing to your base.

Facing impeachment? Let's introduce an initiative that will cut food stamps.

Wow, not if you are being deliberately obtuse or something else. If you being genuine, then do your homework, I have no patience for suffering fools.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agricultural_Adjustment_Act
The Act accomplished this by offering landowners acreage reduction contracts, by which they agreed not to grow cotton on a portion of their land.
    ....
Although the Act stimulated American agriculture, it was not without its faults. For example, it disproportionately benefited large farmers and food processors, with lesser benefits to small farmers and sharecroppers

Fine. Omit the word from my statement. The statement still stands after the correction.

Man, you are stuck in the past. Now you are back in the 30’s. Are you trying to be funny?

Do you think FDR is still President, too?

Elk, Deer, antelope, trout, Sage grouse, cottontail, twelve gallons of fuel. But I still go in on half a beef and sometime hog. Eating is cheap, it's the drugs that break you ;)

You have access to all that. Obviously you have earned it. Thumbs up on that.

But having access to all that is expensive. That wasn't a good argument for food being cheap.

Cost of a .308 round, or cheaper depending on what you are hunting. I know a few poor people who get most of their food from hunting and fishing. Not that I want EVERYONE hunting. I don't think we could sustain that. But it is certainly an option if you are poor. Not to mention the health benefits from spending time in the great outdoors. For me it is a near spiritual experience.

But is cheap, here! It gets a lil spendy if you have your game processed I will agree! But antelope, dear and all the others are easy to do yourself, I just buy $10 worth of pork fat and fire up the grinder and make 30-40 pounds of burger and package it in 1# tube or make garlic sausage, BBQ stuff ;)

As far as beans go, I just wait for them to go bulk and buy 20# for pennies or just buy them as needed canned or dry for hardly nadda, chump change..

I am an advocate of hunting. That .308 round is probably responsible for the most kills world wide when you factor in the 7mm-08 and .243 Win.

A 7mm-08 was my whitetail gun. It was built on a mauser action from a war of some kind. It had a two-stage trigger. You squeezed til you felt it stop, then BOOM. Deadly round. Every deer dropped dead.

The 20-20 was he goto round for ages and is still a good round. Here in Indiana there is a law against hunting deer with a rifle round so rifles chambered in handgun rounds are used.
