My belief system isn't wrong.. yours is.

This argument exemplifies the need for the 1st amendment.. i have the absolute right to not have my kids publicly educated and taught things against my religion. The state has no right to teach such things because it violates the constitution. Teach them as theory, which is accurate! And not with a wink and say "theory"

And both have been used to marginalize and persecute one human by another.

As an example, the fact that the earth is round conflicts with the bible. But it is not teaching the atheist 'religion' to teach children that it is round. That's just teaching science.

Lol, you believe in an evil spirit. I believe in the science that has saved millions if not billions of lives.

If you believe in the constant of gravity, then you cannot discount the Big Bang, because gravity is the basis for the theory.

If you hate your children, I suppose. Do you not believe in gravity?

Atheists are more likely to be progressive? Why would you believe that?
To me atheism is more conservative thought process an a progressive one. I think the conservatives are the "prove it" segment and the progressives are more "touchy feely".

Now I also assume that you think Muslim students can be excused from classes 2x a day for salat. Which does not coincide with morning meditation. I am a Catholic.

I have a proposal. Let's teach things based on how much evidence supports them. If atheism really is a religion, then we can give it the same respect. We can give any scientific organization tax free status. And, we will not teach any religion that hasn't been 'proven' is that fair?

English no, Isn't English a mix of pagan german from the Angles, Saxons and Vikings, mixed with the native languages. I think the Romance languages are derived form Latin but not the Germanic. Now a lot of words are derived from latin words, but the language itself is not latin based. Just look at how modifiers to nouns are used in speech.

Tell me if archaeologist made a huge discovery of scrolls telling how the Judeo-Christian religious story was made up by men from Genesis to Jesus would our rights go away?

It days that because President Eisenhower was giving a middle finger to the former Soviet Union. He shouldn't have done it and it should be removed and be replaced with out actual motto.

I'm an atheist and I don't push those social things being taught but I know people of religious faith that do. Nor is science a religion. Nor is not teaching Christianity or Buddhism or Judism or Confusisim or any other faith teaching "atheism".

I also don't steal or murder or rape. Again if some great discovery found the scrolls to prove it was all made up from "on the first day God..." thriught the story of Jesus would you suddenly believe it OK to steal or murder or rape?

You make the mistake of confusion scientific theory with a layman's definition of the word theory.

"A scientific theory is an explanation of an aspect of the natural world that can be repeatedly tested and verified in accordance with the scientific method, using accepted protocols of observation, measurement, and evaluation of results. Where possible, theories are tested under controlled conditions in an experiment. "

Theory is what got us to the moon and back. Gravity is a theory. Nuclear physics is based in theory. Electricity is based on theory. All have practical use.

What you are referring to are hypothesis.

We have two actual mottos. In God we trust and out of many, one. As in one nation, under God, indivisible...

It's amazing how often I have to deal with people stamping their feet and just declaring something true for no reason. But, just for the heck of it, tell me what evidence you have that a religion gives you morals and truth. 9/11? Putting children in concentration camps? The inquisition? What?

    They are taught as theory.
    The theory of Electricity.
    The theory of Relativity.
    The theory of Gravity.
    The theory Light.
    The theory of Evolution.
    And more...
Biology: cell theory, theory of evolution (modern evolutionary synthesis), germ theory, particulate inheritance theory, dual inheritance theory
Chemistry: collision theory, kinetic theory of gases, Lewis theory, molecular theory, molecular orbital theory, transition state theory, valence bond theory
Physics: atomic theory, Big Bang theory, Dynamo theory, perturbation theory, theory of relativity (successor to classical mechanics), quantum field theory
Other: Climate change theory (from climatology),[56] plate tectonics theory (from geology), theories of the origin of the Moon, theories for the Moon illusion

    Again
""The way that scientists use the word 'theory' is a little different than how it is commonly used in the lay public," said Jaime Tanner, a professor of biology at Marlboro College. "Most people use the word 'theory' to mean an idea or hunch that someone has, but in science the word 'theory' refers to the way that we interpret facts.""
    https://www.livescience.com/21491-what-is-a-scientific-theory-definition-of-theory.html

This is confusion sewn by the ignorance of or misdirection by leaders of religious faith.

I'll never convince anybody to think. It is nice to think that somebody else might learn from things I post, but I never expect it, and certainly the people I argue with will never think. This is mostly catharsis. On the other hand, maybe I'll be given something to think about. It hasn't happened yet though.

Ask around here I am VERY conservative oh and BTW I would be labeled an athiest, l never understood who you get a label for jot believing something or not doing something but be that as it may. It's almost a bigotry that if you have no religious faith, a belief in a supernatural being a god of some sort, then you most be a liberal or a progressive. The only difference between a philosophy of life and a religion is the faith part in the religion.

And to me THAT is the conservative position. To follow the Constitution and keep religious establishments out of government and government out of religious establishments.
