    Trump approves Pentagon plan to pull 9,500 US troops from Germany
    Amid growing congressional opposition, President Donald Trump approved Pentagon plans to redeploy 9,500 U.S. troops from Germany.

    Defense Secretary Mark Esper and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Army Gen. Mark Milley, who briefed Trump on Monday, said the plan would improve “strategic flexibility” and benefit troops and their families, according to a statement released by the Pentagon Tuesday evening.

    The opposition will probably look something like this:

    -Merkel will get her panties in a wad, and say something bad about Trump.

    -Leftwingers will jump on whatever Merkel says, heap her with praise, and pretend her words are gospel, with no acknowledgment of the context.

    Lather, rinse, repeat.

    Some lefties think Putin decides how many scoops of ice cream Trump can eat.

    Some lefties think rioting and looting is ok.

    Some lefties think the economy should be shut down until November.

    Some lefties think Biden would be a good President.

    The odds are good that what "some lefties think" is always going to be on the opposite side of reason. Sometimes the best validation that we're on the right path is knowing our thoughts oppose the extremism of what "some lefties think" ;)

    I didn't realize that our military was a travel club.

    Can't Europe take care of themselves? Bring our troops home unless Europe wants to pay for them and we decide it's in OUR best interest to send them.

    when obama abandoned eastern europe in his more flexible policy with putin europe was lost. moreover germany undermining NATO and partnering with putin furthered the turn over.

    we have no business wasting another ebb dollar there anymore

    BTW, the Europeans are free to raise their force levels as high as they like whenever they like.

    You said that our troops enjoy being stationed in Germany. Why is that important? I'm not paying for their enjoyment.

    Whether or not they enjoy is none of your business, but the fact that we will still have about 25k troops, roughly 2 DIVs is still a fact. That plenty of them enjoy that deployment is ancillary I agree. So the fact that Trump is removing 9k is no big deal, I stated in my 1st post and it still stands.

    I imagine he'd say that's a lot fewer than 9,500 leaving Germany.

    He might add that many Americans seem generally uninformed... it's only 1000 additional to Poland...

    What coincidence? There has been talk of returning our troops home since we won the Cold War. There is no purpose in keeping them in Europe...
