Just take your blinders off for 20 seconds, close your eyes and take a deep breath, then imagine Susan Rice came out with a book in mid 2016 about Obama that made the following claim (assuming Obama could run again in 2016)

So if Obama was like "Help me be tough on ISIS so I can have a better national security record.", that's a win-win because at the time we wanted to bomb them into the stone age, if the Russians did it(and they actually did do a lot of heavy lifting), then all the good for us not to risk American men and women while achieving an American objective.
