And if trump hadn’t run away from the second debate, they would not have to expand the scope of the third debate to include topics from the second debate.

That would probably improve his polling numbers and it would further let the cult followers claim 'RIGGED'!, which is the pre-excuse thay are setting up.

As I understand it during the 2 minute response period to each question the mic of the other person will be off. It will still be possible to interrupt at other points - and Trump can't help himself, so he will. This is the smart way to do it because no credible claim of bias can be mounted on the issue of muting. Of course, the Trumpers will do just that, but having the same, transparent, pre-explained rules applied will kill that for anyone outside the cult.

As I said, this probably helps Trump more than it harms him because no matter how bad his answers are, they won't irritate people as much as the constant interruptions. Of course, given that putting Biden off giving answers was clearly part of the tactic, it does mean Trump will actually have to give coherent answers.

 

I also wonder how effective it will be in the grand scheme of things. His microphone will be cut off so people at home won’t hear him very well but anyone who is in the room with him will hear him. It could be difficult for Biden to maintain his train of thought if he has to talk over trump’s bloviating.

 

Bi-partisan is when two opposing parties work out an agreement that represents both sides. Each side gives a little and takes a little. Until they come to an agreement that is somewhere in the middle.

That has not happened here and you know it after that revelation that the R's on that panel hate Trump.

The R's on that commission are supposed to make sure that the D's provide a fair debate between the two candidates. And the D's likewise with the R's. And it's quite obvious that is not happening.

All you Trump haters talk big about wanting fair elections. But when it gets right down to it that is all talk. Your actions are speaking louder than your words. You claim Trump is bad...yet you all are accepting of the very things you complain about him of. Which makes you exactly like that which you claim to be against. Trump might be everything you claim. But at least that is just his nature. What is all of your excuses?

If people in the room can hear him then Biden's mic will pick it up, but it will actually make him look worse - this angry man shouting at Biden from across the room. It will make him seem ineffectual. His advisors will be telling him not to do it, but he might still try it.

 

I would like the topic changed to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission that all the Democrats are talking about establishing if Biden wins. Expose the Democrats plans to the undecided electorate and see if they are down with the agenda.

if having 5 openly partisan Trump-hating democrats moderate 3 debates and 2 town halls, if having debate topics hand picked to hide Trump's accomplishments (no economy, no foreign policy topics, huh? ), if implementing rule changes in the last minute favoring dems is not RIGGING, then nothing is ever rigged.

That being said I kind of agree that this microphone rule will backfire and end up helping Trump. Enforcing discipline always works in his favor, in addition he'll be able to talk uninterrupted too on the topics he wants to emphasize and I am not sure Biden will have enough platitudes to fill his time slots...and as you said Trump will still have plenty of opportunities to ask Biden about Hunter/emails/China/Burisma and about his 47 years in the swamp with nothing to show for them.

 

This will be comedy hour. Covid Boy will yell Hunter from minute one and all Biden has to say Rudy who ?
