He most certainly did. He is responsible for his actions even if they were carried out by his minions.

He was also given every opportunity to return them and didn’t.

Technically that is probably true, but it is the equivalent of an overdue library book. When the NARA suggested that he might have taken documents and stuff that he shouldn't have, he promptly had his people go through everything and then returned 15 boxes of stuff to the Archivist.

A modicum of integrity maybe, but clearly a complete disdain of our Constitution and system of justice.

Let's say Trump had classified documents.

We know that Hillary had classified documents on her computer which she erased and Democrats said "So what?"

Obama's library has hundreds of millions of documents. Think none of them are classified?
    https://www.obamalibrary.gov/research/research-frequently-asked-questions
The difference is no one looks or cares.

Remember the huge story of Obama trying to keep government records secret?

    Neither do I.

And they missed a lot of stuff which was subsequently found during the execution of the search warrant.

You should phone in the “overdue library book” defense to his legal team. Please.

That simply represents a difference of opinion between primarily NARA and Trump. I don't think the FBI normally gets involved with these disputes but it provided them with a plausible foil to go dumpster diving..

    REALLY??!!!!

There is no limit to the excuses some will make t o defend the indefeasible.

Oh, no. This is not a difference of opinion. Once again, Trumpers get stuck on the FACTS. The documents were not returned even after ever opportunity was given.

Dirty Donnie stole top secret documents. Not opinion, FACT.

    Indeed.
Trumpsters don't deal in facts........nor do they want to...........they deal in Trumisms ( Trump lies and spin) and conspiracy theories.

Yes....but please explain why on earth there was hush hush stuff intermingled with obvious non hush hush stuff. Why did someone seemingly make the very positive effort to put needles among haystacks?

And right there us where he has shot himself in the foot big time because he basically obstructed the timely return of the documents

Library book? When was the last time someone received the following sentences:

2019 Harold Martin, NSA Employee, pled guilty to willful retention of classified
national defense information. SENTENCE: 9 YEARS IN PRISON.

2018: Nghia Hoang Pho, NSA Employee, pled guilty to willful retention of classified
national defense information. SENTENCED TO 5.5 YEARS IN PRISON.

2015: Gen. David Patraeus, pled guilty to misdemeanor of mishandling of classified info.
SENTENCED TO 2 YEARS PROBATION AND $100,000 FINE.

Equal to not returning a library book?

You don't know that. We must wait for the investigation report.

Who said they were in an unsafe place?? The FBI and DOJ sure did not at their June visit (though they did request a second lock on the storeroom door.)

As long as they satisfy the security requirements there is not a single thing wrong with intermingling classified documents with non-classified documents. (And this ignores the fact that Trump declassified the documents which is his plenary unilateral authority to do.)

Unlike Trump those evidently violated the the legal security and handling requirements of classified documents, you know, like Hillary. Plus I'm sure you should say for the first two, the illegal willful retention.....
Or take NARA's word for it.

Hmmm and were they aware at that time what was in there? I really really doubt they did especially since Trumps lawyers told them everything had been given back

I'm aware of your cynicism, but no, not in the least. I am of course referring to the years long (and counting) open unabashed vociferous incessant focused effort by the entire leadership of a major political party (not to mention the intelligence and enforcement agencies of the federal government) to oust Trump from his duly and constitutionally elected presidency, and then censor and purge him and his associates from all politics if not the face of the earth.

By every standard he has breached national security

I do know that while he was in office the Five Eyes alliance never fully trusted him and some intel did not get shared

Yea, they clearly believed Trump cooperated with them, right up to installing a secondary lock on the storage room door. But then they got an anonymous tip that he was hiding things from them. But then, why didn't they go immediately to the hidey hole instead of the storage room?

From the input from NARA they were fully aware of what might be there. Their visit was explicitly to assess the security of any classified documents. I don't know if they inspected and assessed individual documents, but if they did certainly not all of them in less than a day's time, though they certainly could have if they wanted to. If you are bothered because they might not have inspected documents, go fuss at them, not me or Trump.
