(CNN)Say what you will about Donald Trump (and believe me, I have), I must tip my hat to him for doing what many thought was nearly impossible: making Democrats excited about voting in a midterm election. And by doing that, Trump may actually make the Democratic Party great again. A new Washington Post poll released Sunday echoes what we saw in a CNN poll last week: Democratic voters are revved about voting in the 2018 election. It found that in terms of enthusiasm to vote this November, Democrats have a slim two-point advantage over Republicans at 81% to 79%. If you read that and thought that a 2 percent margin isn't much, you'd be wrong. You see, Republicans are typically excited to vote in midterm elections. For example, in October 2014, GOP enthusiasm to vote that year was at 75%, very close to the current number of 79%. But here's the real story: In 2014, Democratic excitement to vote was at only 63%. It's now up by a whopping 18 points! And a CNN poll released Tuesday found that Democratic voter enthusiasm is at the highest rate since 2009. In fact, now 40% of Democrats say they are "extremely enthusiastic" to vote, which is stunning considering that number was only 5 percent higher in 2008, a presidential election year in which we were poised to elect the first African-American president. ... https://www.cnn.com/2018/10/14/opinions/dem-voting-excitement-opinion-obeidallah/index.html Blue wave, red ripple. November is going to be fun!
Rcp has the GOP as winning the Senate outright, the 6 toss ups can all go Dem and they'll still lose. They have the house at 205 Dem, 201 GOP, with 29 toss ups. There used to be a massive Dem advantage, now the Senate is going GOP outright and the House is split. The uptick in the House is enormous, go and look at their tracker. A bigger wave than anything the Dems have had. People clearly didn't like the whole "Kavanaugh is a serial gang rapist despite no evidence" circus. https://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2018/house/2018_elections_house_map.html https://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2018/senate/2018_elections_senate_map.html It astonishes me that you do not seem to know all this.
Most of the House races that are in swing districts are too close to call. If only 5% of the Black vote turns, the House and Senate will remain Red.
Shhhhhh. They needs those fuzzy positive feelings to make it though to the next day. They believe in unicorns too.
Democrats have 23 seats in contention and five of them are extremely close. Republicans have 9 seats in contention and only 2 are close. The math does not favor the democrats here. There is certainly zero chance they pick up any seats in the senate. It would take a miracle for them just to hold on to what they have.
The difference that I see between the "declarations" between liberals and conservatives is that conservatives usually way that they aren't so sure of the outcome while liberals take great pleasure in proclaiming that they will win by a landslide. I agree with you. I am not sure we can hold the house by a couple of seats but their claim that they will take the Senate is a huge reach. I think that "blue wave" is the Tidy Bowl guy talking to them in their dreams.
Your first sentence threw me off guard. When was the Democrat Party ever great? I truly believe that many who are expecting a "Blue Wave" will get it. They will be waving goodbye to all those who have failed them again. What is your platform? What does your party stand for? You cannot promise jobs and higher wages, the 'pubs have already accomplished the lowest unemployment rate for all classes of people ( funny how after 242 years as a country we still box people into classes) . Jobs are returning to the USA at a astonishing rate. Consumer confidence is near an all time high. The Republicans are talking growth while the Democrats are talking wholesale destruction of the system. If I was you, I would be buying some form of protection against the crazies that will be burning down the cities the day after the election.
I think the dems lose 2 seats in the senate but pick up enough in the house to make it an easy reach in 2020.
Dems loose the midterms by 1 or 2 seats as I was predicting the day I joined. Originally I didn't understand what would be the swing factor. Kavanaugh filled in those blanks.
I hope you're right. I'm crossing my fingers that they at least take the house. That way they can cut off the check book and start the investigations. That would be good enough for the time being.
Not all that long ago a couple of decades or so Democrats actually where a decent party and honestly stood for the average working man. They at first slowly drifted away from that, and now under Obama's guidance have really gone hard Socialist, and are now actively purging the party of anyone who fails to go along with the "fundamental change" plan.
After the Kavanaugh hearings, which PR wise they shot themselves in the foot with, they now stand a good chance of not only failing to take the House, but may get dumped on in the Senate. They made the same mistake the Republicans did in 2008, by kissing up to their base, who's going to vote for them come He** or high water, but I believe in doing so with their well publicized antics have alienated the swing vote, which they need to win by acting like day care center of spoiled children and have also woken up hard core Republicans to get off their butts and vote midterm, which normally they sit back and ride out. The polls, which are media driven in their favor, are just not boding well for them anymore and the clock is quickly running out. And never forget, based on polling, Trump was supposed to get steam-rolled by Hillary, didn't happen. The so called "Blue Wave," may very well turnout drowning them and dragging they butts back out to sea.
Democratic prospects for the House in November are forcing Lyin' Don's cult to retrogress and revert increasingly to 2016, but Americans won't delouse the Senate and presidency until 2020. The "Blue Wave" is more of a rising sea level, actually, approximating the consequences of the anthropogenic climate change of which so many of them are still in denial. "Trumper-On-The-Street, how do you feel about most Americans consistently concurring, since before he won the electoral vote, that Lyin' Don stinks and, thanks to him, the likelihood of Democrats taking control of the House is now 84.6%?" "HILLARY!"
Republicans are going to keep the senate. And they'll lose fewer seats in the house than average for the party in power in an off year election.
They are screwed in the senate, that's a given. Its a toss up in the House, even assuming liberal bias in the polls its still going to be close. They only need to pick up 14 seats to gain control.
Michael Cohen wants the American people to vote Trump out of office. "Here's my recommendation. Grab your family, grab your friends, grab your neighbors, get to the poll, because if not, you're going to have another two or another six years of this craziness. So, make sure you vote."
Oh sorry. You made it seem like he was someone we could trust. Seeing as though he flip flops more than John Kerry
