I get a charge out of that ridiculous statement. Trump makes that statement nearly every day, and it is ludicrous. Trump has never asked the Democrats for help on the bill. More importantly, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has never asked the Democrats for help. Democrats have publicly stated they are willing to help. The bill, whichever one the Senators are debating, was written entirely by Republican Senators and they never asked the Democrats for help, either. There hasn't even been hearings where Democrats could provide their input. Trump didn't want their input. When Trump invited Senators for lunch to discuss the situation, he invited only Republicans, not one Democrat.

Yet, Trump is shocked that no Democrats support a bill written entirely by Republicans. Still another example of his incompetence. He is clueless to what is happening in Washington, totally clueless.

Thank you bringing that up. I forgot that aspect of the situation.

I disagree; everyone has the choice to vote for the candidate of his/her choice, otherwise why vote at all if you cannot vote your conscience; just that my selection for President came up short of enough votes to win. To make an allegation like you just have is intellectually dishonest on your part. Please go find someone else to blame because you are unhappy with how things turned out.

Why does anyone have to ask an elected official in WDC to participate in government ?? If the D's have stated they are willing to help then why are they not helping ?? Why are they not proposing legislation to fix the flaws in ObamaCare that they generally acknowledge but have not specified ?? The R's certainly provided input on ObamaCare correctly pointing out that the legislation as proposed and passed would fail in the specific ways that it is failing today. But Obama countered with "elections have consequences" and ignored all their input.

No one including Trump is shocked that the D's have no interest in proposing ObamaCare fixes or in proposing anything related to innovations in health insurance or health care. The D's are progressive socialists who want single payer which would really be a disaster for US citizens.

What do you mean,"where are my sources"? And how dare you say my information is wrong---the set up was the way it was in the state of Nevada, which is why we were so excited about OBAMACARE-
And when a second insurance company before OBAMACARE entered the scene to compete for the HSA,there wasn't a eyelash of a difference between the two as far as price goes--
What in the world does "I've has a HSA since the mid "oo's" mean?
Yeah,so "if" people can't afford the basic insurance, how would they be able to fund the HSA?
And again---I'm not interested in arguing back & forth about the past,I am interested in finding a solution-care to give your ideas?
Because, the GOP needs help-if they somehow pass their idea of HCR people will die----

Trump received less than 25% of eligible voters. He lost the popular vote by nearly three million.

You are unwilling to accept the responsibility of your voting decision. You voted for a person who had no chance of winning. Why? To abrogate your responsibility to select a President much like the 90 million who chose not to vote at all.

As a consequence of your decision and like decisions of others Trump became our President.

That is a direct cause and effect and I am not being "intellectually dishonest." You just can't face the responsibility of your decision.

In your mind, voting your conscience meant voting for someone who didn't stand a chance. That is ludicrous and a fool's decision. Face it, you didn't want to make a tough decision. So, you make excuses for yourself.

Exactly right! I could not figure out what protest voters thought they were accomplishing. What good is a protest if no one really knows what you did except for a handful of people that you choose to tell and it actually gives your vote away making the choice of your vote for you.

Could it possibly be that both major party candidates were so horrible that a person could not vote for them and live with the fact that they helped to hurt the country? That's like saying you'd vote for the killer of 10 people as opposed to the killer of 100 because he was the lesser of two evils. Either way they are both murderers; would you want to have someone like that running the country?

Again I'm calling your remarks extremely intellectually dishonest whether or not you'll admit it. I'm quite happy knowing that while the candidate I voted for lost, I had nothing to do with getting either one of the major candidates elected.

Furthermore, for you to criticize someone's voting decision as you have reeks of election bullying; it's people that criticize peoples personal decisions on voting, turns off many from participating in the election process like it or not. Voting has consequences; don't forget that.

Seems to oscillate between "Trump is a fascist, racist Hitler" and "Trump will kill us all". At some point, you gotta wonder...

I watched on Fox News the turmoil in the Senate over one of Trump's signature issues, healthcare. It was not pretty. They were about to vote on one amendment, but before that was completed they suddenly started voting on another amendment. They will be voting on a series of amendments to a bill no one knows anything about and no one has read. Why has no one read it? The bill hasn't been written yet, and won't be until late Thursday or early Friday. Then that bill will go down in defeat ... if it is voted on. Fox called it a voterama.

I told you it wasn't pretty.

Is the President helping his colleagues as all this is going? Is he providing any sage advice as any leader would to his flock? Is he patting the Senators on the back for all their hard work on one of campaign promises?

    Nope, Trump was busying tweeting.

He attacked a Republican Senator as if she were the only holdout. "Senator @lisamurkowski of the Great State of Alaska really let the Republicans, and our country, down yesterday. Too bad," Yesterday, the Senate decisively rejected a Republican proposal to repeal-and-replace Obamacare. The vote was 43 to 57. In other words, eight other Republicans joined Murkowski in defeating the measure. Why Trump singled out the Alaskan Senator is anyone's guess.

For the third day in a row he attacked his attorney general. Previously Trump said Jeff Sessions was "beleaguered" and weak on investigating Hillary's crimes. Today, as the Senate was battling over one of his key issues, Trump tweeted, “Why didn’t A.G. Sessions replace Acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe, a Comey friend who was in charge of Clinton investigation but got big dollars ($700,000) for his wife’s political run from Hillary Clinton and her representatives. Drain the Swamp!” None of which is true. At the time, Clinton wasn't even aware of the "big dollars." Trump knows this is a lie. He tried this fiction during the campaign and discovered it was false.

Then he used Twitter to announce a new military policy from the Commander-in-Chief. In three tweets, Trump announced, "After consultation with my Generals and military experts, please be advised that the United States Government will not accept or allow...... ....Transgender individuals to serve in any capacity in the U.S. Military. Our military must be focused on decisive and overwhelming..... ....victory and cannot be burdened with the tremendous medical costs and disruption that transgender in the military would entail. Thank you"

How this will affect the transgender people already serving in the military remains unknown. Up to 10,700 transgender people are already serving in the US military, according to a 2016 study by the RAND Corporation. The Pentagon was taken by surprise by this announcement and referred all questions to the White House.

These tweets serve a dual purpose ... or so Trump thinks. In his mind, Trump distanced himself from defeat and the chaos in the Senate and moved on.

Also, the tweets, for one day at least, provided a distraction from his real problem. The Senate and the special prosecutor are closing in on him in the Russian connection. Kushner, Junior, and Manafort have or will be testifying before the Senate, and Mueller is waiting in the wings.

But today all attention is on Trump's moronic tweets, meaning official Presidential statements. No kidding, that what his tweets are called, according to the White House and Trump himself.

I've had a Health Savings Account since the mid 2000's. This was a national program and HSA's work the same in every state including Nevada. There is no competition for an HSA - there is competition between insurance companies for customers who want HSA's. The funding limits of HSA's are set federally. They do not require a multi thousand dollar buy in. The policies which qualified for HSA's had premiums less than half those of conventional low deductible policies.

I selected my policies using ehealthinsurance which served as an exchange before ObamaCare. There were no federal mandated coverages and if I could have purchased across state lines the premiums would have been half in other states like Michigan and West Virginia.

Yes, what is your source for the way HSA's were set up in Nevada ??

Well, I am my source & I'm telling you this is what we were told by the Insurance agent when we inquired about a HSA,which then we contacted my husbands employer & then they agreed to put the original $10,000 in to open the account---and the only Insurance company that covered a HSA at that time was through State Farm---a couple of years later when our premiums took a huge spike upward we checked with another insurance agent to find another company-there was "one" new one, but not an eyelash of difference in price between them-so, when OBAMACARE became law, we checked on the exchange & there were a few insurance company's that covered the HSA,so we went with the cheaper premiums ( explained in post #60 in this thread),$6000 deductible & 100% after deductible & no co-pays--- Who wouldn't!---- -Love OBAMACARE & am very pleased with Prominence Insurance----
We didn't set up the HSA online ,we went to an Insurance Agent,if they lied to us,nothing we can do about it now--it is what it is----
But, again, HSA'S would be great for everybody "if" everybody had the extra money to keep funding the account along with paying the premiums.---and again, with the GOP reform, people will indeed die---
    And again,what is your solution?

That's impossible. The maximum annual contribution today is only $6750 per family - $3400 per person. You need a new insurance agent - why are you buying health insurance from State Farm ??

And again the point of an insurance policy compatible with an HSA (if you don't understand that then do some homework) is to lower premiums because of the high deductible and then contribute the difference to the HSA which accumulates. The amount in the HSA the first year is equal or greater than the deductible. If you can afford a low deductible policy then you can afford an HSA compatible policy and contribute to the HSA - there is no extra money involved.

Is this case, a vote for someone who had no chance was a vote for Trump, the most unpopular President in American history and he proves why every single day. A vote for a third party means the voter joined the anarchists who support Trump.

You need to read my latest on this forum, "The Trump administration is beginning to unravel." I'd love to hear your views after you read it. I'd like Trump fans to read it, too. I would be interested in their views as well.

Republicans Sens. Lindsey Graham (S.C.), John McCain (Ariz.), and Ron Johnson (Wis.) shared their concerns over the Republicans' "skinny repeal" bill, which it is believed would get rid of ObamaCare's individual and employer mandate and medical device tax; the text has not been released yet. The senators said they were worried if the bill passes in the Senate, it would go to the House without the two chambers coming together to amend it. "Skinny repeal" as law would be a disaster the Senators said.

House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) released a statement Thursday evening saying the House is open to working with the Senate to come up with a health-care bill to repeal ObamaCare.

Vote-a-rama will continue into the wee hours of the morning. This is all very strange. It is extremely likely that the Senators won't be able to pass anything, but they can all go home for the August recess and say they tried.

Still on the back burner when they come back, healthcare, the budget, raising the debt limit, tax reform, and funding infrastructure. Seven months and Congress hasn't done a thing.

    And the President tweets.

    What a boondoggle.

Those mandates have been responsible in part for the pathetic 1% (adjusted for inflation and population growth) Obamanomics economic growth rate. And yet no D's will be voting to repeal them. It is more important for the D's to cling to failed policies than to grow the US economy which helps all US citizens including the D identity politics groups. Very sad - almost as sad as the D's "new" recycled economic growth plan based on raising the minimum wage which of course ignores the Seattle statistics showing job losses as a result of increases in that city. Once again we see that the D's have no understanding of basic economics.

Well, I'm living proof that that it is possible, because I explained to you how it came about-What" part" of we were told that State Farm was the only Insurance company that covered a HSA at that time"---- We did do our homework & we most certainly understand how a HSA works, the reason we went with a HSA is because we got tired of Insuance policies that " use it or lose it",meaning we were healthy people & never used the insurance,so at the end of the policy year,if we didn't use it,we lost all that money to the insurance company. This is not the first post that you didn't read what I posted---And we did get a new policy----We went with OBAMACARE ----
But, again, you seem to want to continue to argue the past---I'm more interested in better health care for everyone & looking for solutions---
    You continue to say I am wrong,Well, I am not wrong--you weren't there,I was---Move on-----
    Again,what is your solution?

Please do some homework on the matter. It's very clear that you know nothing about the origins, the availability, the federal contribution limits, and the fact that HSA's are not a unique feature of ObamaCare.

The solution is market based health insurance and health care which is the core of the R health care reforms.

Republican Senators, including McConnell, have not asked for help from the Democrats. Trump has not asked the Democrats for help. Each time he invites Senators to the White House for a chat about health care, Trump invites only Republicans. The various bills were written entirely by Republicans.

And you have the balls to criticize the Democrats because they are not cooperating? Are you nuts?

Are you serious ?? There has been no effort at all by the D's to help with the ObamaCare problems. What is Schumer/Pelosi waiting for - a glided invitation ?? Where are the D bills which propose fixes to ObamaCare ?? The D's have no interest in fixing ObamaCare or reforms which benefit economic growth and the general welfare of the US citizens.

Fortunately, Senator McCain, before he went home to Arizona for chemotherapy and other harsh treatments of brain cancer, voted "NO" on the "skinny" bill no Senator wanted to see pass.

It took a cancer-stricken old man and two courageous women to prevent this horrible bill from passing. It was never meant to be the foundation of a new health care law. By some convoluted reasoning, McConnell convinced all other Senators to vote for a bill no one wanted so they could go to reconciliation with the House. That's nuts. Why is it only those three prevented a Senatorial disaster?

Did 49 Senators want that badly to give Trump a meaningless, half-assed victory? Is the Trump-led government that desperate? That is the only thing that makes sense.

Fortunately, there was at least one more brave vote by the Arizona Senator. Here is hoping there are many more. Fair winds and following seas, Skipper.
