    I disagree with your premise.

That socialism is antithetical to the American way of life. Do you just want free stuff or do you envy the successful?

The issue is the have-nots need to act more like the haves, they aren't victims.

Most people don't seem to know the difference between the VA and Single payer/private delivery.

The manipulators are trying to drive YOU with fear... just like they did with all their crap about Sharia law taking over and Trump's emergency on the border.

It all boils down to the 'how'. There are countries that provide excellent healthcare to all through taxation funding, so we know it CAN be done. And we have excellent examples (VA HC) of how NOT to do it. So I don't believe it to be altruism to think that it can be done effectively, we just have to be humble enough to recognize that there are others who know better than we do, and swallow our pride long enough to learn from them. America is not the greatest nation on earth, and to continue pretending we are is at our own detriment. If we WANT to be, we CAN be...but it will require change. And I'm afraid that is something we don't seem to be willing to do. Or wanting to do. We seem to think that long wait times for elective procedures is a non starter, a danger to the country. And all the while people die from treatable conditions because they cannot afford the treatment. If I break my hip, I want immediate surgery. And should get it. But if I want a bunion removed, I am happy to wait in line for treatment so that others with broken hips can go ahead of me. We are all too concerned with our own comfort to see that others are in desperate need. Again, to be the greatest nation on earth means that we care about others.

Government should not run healthcare. It should funnel the money into it and place checks and balances in place to ensure it is run effectively for all...by agencies that specialize in the delivery of effective and affordable healthcare. And as a sole customer, the government is in the cat bird seat for negotiation with big pharma and medical device companies. Watch costs tumble.

As for insurance companies? They will adapt just fine. With a national healthcare that does not include such non threatening medical care (such as paramedicals, dental, optometry, etc.), insurance companies will still offer medical benefits to their employees for those services. Again, just look to other countries and see that their insurance companies are doing just fine.

Can you quote any socialist, Marxist, or other proponent who says that? You can't show examples since socialism has never been established as a stable, functioning system anywhere.

You're failing to make needed distinctions. The people you seem to be referring to are those who carried out a strategy for creating a socialist country, and those strategies failed for known reasons, and they have therefore been mostly rejected and abandoned today.

Yes, like those who rant and advocate "pure free-market capitalism".

The socialist effort in Venezuela began before the world socialist movement had finished summing up past experience and developed new strategies that reject beginning by seizing government. Meanwhile, Venezuela's history since Chavez began campaigning has included intense, persistent, and growing intervention and interference by the US without telling us about it, thus making it look like Chavez was a failure even though he brought about much good for the country.

Trump is poorly educated.. He thought he could print money to decrease the national debt. .. and he brags about his undergrad at Wharton. He bought his kids into college just like Kushner the ex-con bought his son into college.

They are pretty dumb and poorly educated.

Primitive communism is still a thing in tribes in the Amazon. Hierarchies must exist. What makes socialism doomed to failure is that those in charge of enforcing it (those with the guns) will inevitably loot it. It has happened every time and will happen every time in the future.

If you want to push socialism, the morally acceptable way to go about it is to start your own companies that are owned by the workers and compete against capitalistic companies. Let the free market decide. If your companies succeed, they will spread and the country will become socialist.

I prefer a capitalistic system similar to what we had in in 60s. As a software engineer, I certainly do not want to be compensated at the same level as a Burger King worker. I enjoy competition and think those of who perform the most valuable work should be rewarded for our increased value to our companies. If there were no hierarchy and no difference in reward, I would have little interest in working at all. It is my value to my company that gives my life much of its meaning.

Well, then you are wrong and you must know it since you are apparently unable to maturely and intelligently defend your ideas on it.

No it isn't. The notion of bending to the collective will and benefiting society by providing laws is Constitutional and is represented by numerous laws in every state and in federal governing.

No. I don't need it. I provide for myself and I give to my community. How about you?

Is it your view that exploitation and expropriation are ok because people should be "free" to look out for their own interests and find ways to avoid pitfalls?

With that statement, you have established that you are bigoted against the cognitively impaired and the poorly educated. Is this a standard you want to apply to people immigrating to our country?

Zeal in the preservation of Liberty and Freedom is no vice. With 80% of the women and girls that illegally cross the border, raped during the trip, ending this horrible illegal trafficking is an emergency of the highest order.

    We're not discussing primitive communism.

What you're referring to is the failed strategies to establish socialism. None have succeeded. So there has been no socialist socio-economic system. And therefore you cannot logically or rationally discuss socialism since it hasn't existed.

    Exactly, and that is happening.

You can prefer it if you like but there is no going back. Economies all evolve and change as pressures move them, and the pressures that move them are of the economy and the socioeconomic system. Politics and economics as they are practiced become what the socioeconomic system requires at every step in every year. Our socioeconomic system and its character today is VERY different than it was in the 1960s. Going back would require dismantling our economic system and imposing earlier conditions on a class that has had the political power to bring about what we have now! And they won't allow us to force them back. They already reacted to FDR and The New Deal and his other policies with their Powell Memorandum and all that has emerged from it.

I am a retired software developer, so believe me when I tell you I certainly don't want that either, but then there is NOBODY who says it should be like that either. The whole idea of "equal pay" for all workers is nothing more than an anti-socialist, capitalist propaganda scare tactic that has no reality at all.

Yeah well as I said "it ain't gonna happen" anyway.

Concern over the sexual violence against these women and children does seem to get downplayed by the Open Borders Left. But, then they had Bill Cosby and Harvey Weinstein and all the rest operating in their midst for a generation and purposely turned a blind eye.

The sexual violence directed against these women doesn't stop once they leave the "care" of their Cartel Coyote, who often rapes them, but it even continues after they enter the underground system in the US that we must eliminate.

Violence and Vulnerability of Female Migrants in Drop Houses in Arizona: The Predictable Outcome of a Chain Reaction of Violence
Simmons, William Paul; et al. Violence Against Women, 2015. DOI: 10.1177/1077801215573331.

Abstract: “This qualitative research study examines the experiences of immigrant women crossing the U.S./Mexico border and the proliferation of ‘drop houses’ in Arizona as a new phenomenon, one that is often marked by kidnappings and sexual assault. Little research has been published on the violence women face on their journey, and the drop houses have almost completely escaped scholarly analysis. We argue that the drop houses must be seen as a consequence of a ‘state of emergency’ declared by policy makers that led to changes in U.S. national and local immigration policies that fueled what we call a ‘chain reaction of violence.’”

I'm aware of how the VA operates, Margot - right now I'm speaking to you from the library of my house which was purchased through a VA loan - but that's ultimately what the proponents of socialized HC want - an incompetent and over-expensive government-run HC system.

Back when ObamaCare was enacted I predicted than when it fell on its face its proponents would begin agitating for even more government involvement in our HC system and more government interference in our personal lives. I was right - now, they're demanding "Medicare for All" - and once we connect public payment to private delivery and that falls flat on its face they'll demand what the VA is delivering now.

In an unusual fit of candor, former Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) confessed that this incrementalist strategy was precisely what ObamaCare was about. It was never intended by him and his fellow travelers to be an end in itself - it was intended to drag the country one step closer towards nationalized healthcare, and the individual mandate was the crown jewel in that legislation. "Medicare for All", and the destruction of the private HI industry, is just one more step in the Left's attempt to obtain the holy grail of socialized healthcare.

People aren't stupid. We didn't need Harry Reid's admission to see this.

Regimented public education inevitably leads to mass indoctrination. Everyone has known that it is a very bad thing for decades.

That's a personal opinion that is impossible for you to prove to be true at all. Hell, we haven't even heard anyone saying they want more of the VA's performance elsewhere. We haven't heard anyone praising the VA's performance. So you personal opinion here is silly.

Sure it has even at it's most extreme and I get the leftist/socialist mantra "but we'll get it right this time". But OK where has it partially been tried and succeeded?

So I guess the Democrats are all poorly eductated to since they are the ones who have run up the massive deficits in the past. And Presidents do not singularly control the budget, they are just one of the three parties that do.

From the outcomes we are seeing not so much. Kids are coming out of schools supporting socialism. Anyone with critical thinking skills would NEVER come to that conclusion.
