I see. So Trump is "protecting" the people from the governors' efforts to not put their lives in jeopardy.

I must say that, in that aspect, Trump has been very effective. 100 thousand dead is evidence of that.

Of all the Trump supporters on this forum, I believe you come up with the most imaginative rationalizations to defend the orange dictator. Maybe that's considered "admirable" in some circles. But it's of no help to those of us who prefer reality.

Ya so what? The media constantly ATTACKS the president. I’m pretty sure he is protected under the first amendment as well.

Our imaginative rationalizations? It’s called the constitution. Not rocket science.

Trump supporters believe that it's all about throwing in random words like "the constitution"... and they feel safe. They believe that, that way, they won't have to look at facts. Among them that this President has absolutely no regards whatsoever for the Constitution. Do you see any of his supporters complaining about the many times he has trampled the Constitution? Or about his threats to become a dictator, as referenced on the OP?

Nah! Close your eyes and all the criminal acts this President has committed, his lies, his dishonesty, his incompetence... they'll just go away like magic. And he can continue doing the one and only task they elected him for: to torture immigrants.

Yeah, there's quite a bit of good local cause:

“Courtney Lewis, the pastor of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Chicago [a predominantly black church], was in the middle of his sermon when he heard loud banging on front doors. It was the police and they were denied entry into the sanctuary.

Mayor Lori Lightfoot had dispatched three squad cars and two unmarked cars filled with armed officers. A representative from the mayor’s office was also present.

Pastor Lewis said the intent was to shut down their Sunday services. It was “like the Soviet-style KGB,” he said. “The only thing she hasn’t done yet is beat the doors down and arrest our members,” the pastor said.

“THANKFULLY OUR DOORS WERE LOCKED AS A NORMAL SAFETY PRECAUTION WE TAKE EACH SERVICE TO PROTECT OUR MEMBERS FROM THE ESCALATING GUN VIOLENCE IN CHICAGO,” the pastor said. [all-caps mine]

A church usher, who is typically positioned outside the building during the services, saw the mayor’s goon force attempt to enter the building and began taking photographs. Even more disturbing, an individual in an unmarked car with tinted windows was seen filming and photographing church members as they arrived to worship Jesus Christ. ‘The mayor wants to educate everyone into compliance – which means intimidate,’ the pastor said.”

    https://www.toddstarnes.com/faith/c...med-police-to-shut-down-black-baptist-church/

The city also marks all nearby parking as non-parking zones on Sunday and blocks off a bank parking lot which the church leases from the bank to provide adequate parking for members on Sunday when the bank is closed. But black people took their training on these kinds of Jim Crow things in the 50's and 60's and know how to get around them.

Can you quote the relevant part of the first amendment that shows that places of worship cannot be classified just like other taxpaying business and be temporarily closed to prevent the spread of disease by the state? Make sure you put the entire sentence and not just cherry pick a few words.

When trump is out of office in 6mo or 4yr 6mo I hope the Democrats mount and independent inquiry and full investigation into each person and each charge, simultaneously with state and local officials. They should use the crimes of this to completely expose the Republican party.

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof” not clear enough for you?

Any time. And if you feel like you can debunk anything, feel free to try. I must warn you though, that I've been keeping and updating this table for almost three years. And many have tried to prove it wrong. None have succeeded. But hey! You might be "the one".... you never know...

Are you confusing congress with the individual states?
Or do you believe they are the same?

    Not clear enough for you?

If congress was doing this, you might have a point.
But they are not, so you don't.

    Care to try again?

Yes. I think most of those charges will be handled by professional prosecutors. The evidence of many of those is in the Mueller report. Most others are in documents that have already been requested under FOIA and other mechanisms. But there does need to be a full Congressional inquiry as to how it's possible that a President can abuse power this way and still remain in power. Many actions by actors like Nunes, Jim Jordan, Moscow Mitch... and others need to be explained to the American People.

You don’t have 50 example, and oh yeah there’s this thing called federal supremacy. So the UNITED STATES CONSTITUTION IS THE LAW OF THE LAND . We learn that in 5th grade, try to keep up

Each state has their own constitution. I am completely shocked that you didn’t know this...
Yes, there is a thing called federal supremacy, meaning that when a state law conflicts with federal law the federal law wins — unfortunately the amendment you are quoting applies only to congress. So there is no conflict. I would say you should have learned that in 5th grade, but it is apparent you didn’t.

    Supremacy Clause
    Primary tabs
    See Preemption; constitutional clauses.

Article VI, Paragraph 2 of the U.S. Constitution is commonly referred to as the Supremacy Clause. It establishes that the federal constitution, and federal law generally, take precedence over state laws, and even state constitutions. It prohibits states from interfering with the federal government's exercise of its constitutional powers, and from assuming any functions that are exclusively entrusted to the federal government. It does not, however, allow the federal government to review or veto state laws before they take effect.

    You lose

Except the states have, and will continue to limit access to places of worship for public health concerns (as I quoted in the Florida Constitution that you skipped over) No ones ability to exercise their religion in their homes or online has been infringed.

Again, congress shall not does not apply to anyone but congress.

If you see a sigh that says “semi-trucks must exit here” do you pull over in your car?
