Airplanes use the laws of physics to evade radar detection. For a spacecraft to not give off heat, it would have to violate the laws of physics.
Yes, your position is quite clear. The number of humans is your main determinate. You do not see the need for specialists in this area. Got it.
And design and materials.............technology. Of you use them to your advantage as we do with stealth technology. Never say never.
The design, materials, and technology all have to work with the laws of physics to evade radar. There is no way to prevent a spacecraft from radiating heat that won’t kill the spacecraft. To make a spacecraft stealth would require violating he laws of physics. To use a pop culture example, why do you think engine exhaust heat and the need for radiators is never brought up in The Expanse (the books or the show)? Because half the major plot elements would be invalidated almost instantly.
It depends on the relative speeds and doesn't require a direct hit. Do you think we blew Japanese Zero's out of the sky by directly hitting them with 3" AA shells?
Again never say never.............just look at what we have accomplished eliminating the heat signatures of stealth aircraft.
Sure, and matching a maneuvering satellites for interception requires you not only meet or exceed its speed, but also match its relative trajectory, which it can change entirely unpredictably. The best defense a satellite has is maneuvering. USAF Space Command already handles that job.
Stealth aircraft operate in the atmosphere. Do you understand the ways in which a object can transfer heat within the laws of physics? Do you likewise understand that the only way an object in space can transfer excess heat is through radiation?
Now perhaps but is certainly not the end all, they used to say the same thing about torpedoes. And to the second part, so what? It would be transferred to the dedicated Space Command.
Some at it's upper reaches with very low temperatures behind them burning pound after pound of highly volatile fuel putting out LOTS of heat. Even at 30,000 feet what is the heat differential between the exhaust gases and ambient?
Why do we need a dedicated Space Command when space operations are not Joint (the USAF conducts more than 90% of them) and when the USAF doesn’t have any problems conducting the mission? What justifies the cost of redundant bureaucracy and logistics for another branch?
I notice you selectively quoted my post so you wouldn’t have to deal with the fact that in space the only way you get get rid of heat is through radiation. But you totally aren’t being deliberately intellectually dishonest or anything. Spacecraft are not aircraft. Aircraft do not operate in a vacuum. Spacecraft do. A spacecraft cannot be infrared stealth because it must radiate heat or destroy itself from overheating.
The only way an aircraft flying through the skies can get rid of the hot exhaust gases is through venting to the atmosphere. I understand you must believe we are at a technological standstill and no further technological advances will ever be accomplished. I simply do not hold that limited view of the future.
Yeah, but in the atmosphere, a plane can spread those gasses out so they are not significantly higher than the surrounding atmosphere. They can use ceramic tiles to absorb the heat as part of the engine. They can do lots of things to mitigate their heat signature because in an atmosphere there are other options besides radiation as a means to get rid of heat. There is no means in a vacuum to get rid of heat except radiation. To make a stealth spacecraft would require violating the laws of physics. Why are you lying about me by claiming I believe we are at a technological standstill? Is the only tactic you have selective quoting and lying at this point?
How is it "imbecilic" after the Obamidiot declared NASA's mission to be "muslim outreach", and ENDED its space activity?
I can only comment on what you post and isn't it amazing the technologies we can come up with. You are saying it cannot be done, I say never say never.
Show me a technology we’ve come up with that’s violated the laws of physics. Because the only way to make a stealth spacecraft is to do that.
Never say never and you assume any new technology would have to violate the laws of physics and only as we know them now.
The only way to get rid of heat in a vacuum, per the laws of physics, is by radiating that heat into the vacuum. That radiated heat will be detected by any sensor with even a trickle of electricity running to it. Seriously, with current technology, we could detect something like the space shuttle’s rocket firing outside the orbit of Neptune. The only way to not have a spacecraft radiate heat (and not cook its crew and all of the electronics on board) is to violate the laws of physics.
Why was the Air Force created as a separate branch when the US Army was already handling the air combat? The below link explains it. This same logic can be applied to space. https://www.quora.com/Why-was-the-US-Air-Force-created-as-a-separate-military-branch
