Lethal injection is not meant to keep the condemned person from suffering. Efforts to make more "merciful" executions have the basic purpose of making the executions more tolerable for the people carrying it out.

Technically, the most merciful execution from the standpoint of the condemned person is probably the guillotine

 

I hope people understand that we are not stationed in Germany so much to defend Germany as to have a vital staging point for our forces operating on that side of the Atlantic. It would not be practical to move troops and equipment directly from the US all the way to Africa and the Near East, Scandinavia and other parts of Europe. It is strategically important and it benefits us as well as Germany.

 

And still the US uses lethal injections, despite the unnecessary sufferings. You want to execute a criminal do it right, do not prolong the suffering.
I am a Farmer, Rancher. I have made that decision hundreds of times, done it myself. It has to be swift and instantly final.
