Some of Don's money has come from outright cons (see Trump University). And the Trump family business was built on taxpayer supported projects. Obama's money has mostly come from book deals and speeches, hasn't it? How is that not based on what he's built?

i realize this was a typo, but i got a fantastic belly laugh out of it nonetheless. it just fits so well. the preoccupation with doom and gloom, the concentration on the worst aspects of humanity and this pervasive notion that we are all damned unless we follow the one true faith. all that's needed is for the lot of them to show up in congress with baggy, dark colored clothing, doc martens and black eye-liner and the visual would match the ideology.

yes, vote "emo"crat and we can all go gleefully to hell.

    Didn't say it did...never brought up 401k

Cap gains impacts everyone the same...no matter what their income or weatlh is....the only difference is the rate between long term and short term cap gains

huh? who are you talking about? obviously you have class envy....but no...rich people's money that was invested and is subject to cap gains was earned.

I agree taht cap gains are paid until it's realized.....if my parents purchased our family home for 80K, and they die and leave it to me, and it's valuable at 225K now, I don't inherit a 80K home....and I don't owe cap gains until I sell the house.

This is pretty common sense....and that impacts all people, not just rich people

Yes, bigly....for some reason you think cap gains only applies to rich people....it doesn't.

of course Trump is, another tax cut for the rich as our debt climbs

how about this, make the first 20k of capital gains tax-free so it mostly benefits the middle class - the rich will get it too, just won't mean as much to them

I am all for making the first 20k of capital gains tax-free - why not do that?

yep, if they make the first 20k tax free it helps the middle class and the retired - just not the rich so much, that is what Trump should do

I did not say that. I said that a cut to capital gain tax would benefit higher income earners and the wealthy a lot more. I said that middle class and seniors usually have the bulk of their investments as interest bearing or of plan types like 401K and IRA.

Maybe I guess...cause they are likely to invest more.....if you aren't investing then you won't benefit at all....but then again you won't pay it at all....so....

I think non-labored income should be taxed more then labored income, but am all for the first 20k being tax free

like interest income? and income earned from the money you invested? Why? that money was already orginally taxed v ordinary income

no, that money your being taxed on was not taxed before, your only taxed on the profits... not the original sum

you buy 10k of stock, sell it as 11k, you only pay tax on the 1k - why? cause you were already taxed on the 10k, you were never taxed on the 1k

but why should that be taxed higher? or at all? don’t we want people to invest in businesses? save? buy homes and property?

well you pay ordinary income tax on income you labor and don’t labor for...such as dividends, interest, royalties etc

it’s al paid at the same rate

cap gains is taxed lower because it’s based on the sale of something, and certainly can include labor for example of i buy a property, for low cost, and spend time fixing it up, getting new floors, etc then sell it.

how about all income be treated as income... period

give everyone the first 20k tax free

if you buy a house and fix it up, that is part of the cost, you are not taxed on that part of the sale (if you save receipts)

~ The way our U.S. government squanders , mishandles and loses tax revenue the less we pay the better ! I have never seen more waste than big government.

    :rage:´ " Away with that tax I say ! " :omfg:´

~ That is just about what is done in our tax system. Trump just wants to do it less.

no but you are taxed on the value too make...but it for 60, sell it for 100...

how about not taxing people on income at all? don’t we want people to work, invest and make money? we should tax people on what they consume not produce

~ Well now if your suggestion were put to use America would have a much larger middle class. We can't have that ... can we ?
