Here's a link that states $7 Trillion (after interest on the accumulated debt).

    Cheney's involvement:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_for_the_New_American_Century

The Project for the New American Century (PNAC) was a neoconservative[1][2][3] think tank based in Washington, D.C. that focused on United States foreign policy. It was established as a non-profit educational organization in 1997, and founded by William Kristol and Robert Kagan.[4][5] PNAC's stated goal was "to promote American global leadership."[6] The organization stated that "American leadership is good both for America and for the world," and sought to build support for "a Reaganite policy of military strength and moral clarity."[7]

Of the twenty-five people who signed PNAC's founding statement of principles, ten went on to serve in the administration of U.S. President George W. Bush, including Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, and Paul Wolfowitz.[8][9][10][11] Observers such as Irwin Stelzer and Dave Grondin have suggested that the PNAC played a key role in shaping the foreign policy of the Bush Administration, particularly in building support for the Iraq War.

He was trying to subvert them into NATO membership at the time.
They also commited troops to his war in Iraq. They were up for it.

But they were on a collision course with Russia and NATO doesn't want anyone who is.

Since Russia butt whupped them, he has no reason to return. Both that grenade and Russia's retaliation made the point to him that he wasn't welcome there.

It's hard to debate people's psychological motives. Best we stick with what we know.

All you need to is Google Islamic terrorism and you'll see it goes back for many decades, or even centuries.
I'd guess that it's because he thought he 'ended the war in Iraq' but was horribly wrong and was forced to return. What's your theory?
It depends on the source but by most accounts its a bit more than that. In human terms leaving Iraq was the worst military decision the US ever made, though we should not have expected more from a Community Organizer.

That one man with the grenade does not decide their foreign policy nor is there certainty that it was designed for the US president.

Their foreign policy was to get into a war with Russia and get the US to fight it for them.

They did an awesome assassination there around the same time. So simple and yet so elegant.
They put a tank mine under the benches at a sports stadium. When the bigwigs sat down, their fat arses set it off.

Not designed for the Geroge Bush. Sure. Because he is sooo popular.
And the Georgians sooo respectful of peaceful political process.

Well ... when a new administration of where the core people still were only interested about Saddam and then after raising he power put Saddam on top of security council meeting topics ... far in front of any Al Qaeda issue which was ignored to be important until the bad awake of 9/11 came ... then I have serious doubts about officially told reasons!

Even centuries is nonsense ... the point is that Saddam did not support any groups aside PLO called to be terrorists and Osama was an enemy of him too. So what "war against terror" was given in March 2003 again? A lie only!

Has the US President to follow the will of the majority of his people? A good question, eh?

Point is that the majority wanted to get the boys and girls back after it was more and more discovered how much the Bush administration betrayed their people and how much incompetence this administration showed ... and more important:
They were over to have a second Vietnam War with raising losses of killed and wounded US Soldiers in a conflict which started with lies and where it was not clear for what the young people fought at least!

The worst decision ever made was done by Bush when he attacked the Iraq in 2003 ... not by Obama who followed the will of the people to end this BS which he did not cause!
ISIS is no product of the Obama administration, but of the Bush administration and their incredible incompetence and stupidity!
