These are two of the most blind, idiotic, devoid of thought but pregnant with partisan anger comment stupidity since Obama won his second term. Gentleman, it is a low bar indeed you have slithered under.

 

Should we instead accept the claims of one of the other powers in the dispute, ALL OF WHICH are involved in the same kinds of illegal actions (dredging new islands, militarizing islands, and claiming territory outside of their EEZ) China is?

Which of these factions do we side with? The communist dictatorship in Vietnam, the Islamist state in Indonesia, or the government-sanctioned murder gang state in the Philippines?

Our action should be to stay out of it (except for continuing to enforce free passage) and let international courts or regional powers take care of it. When people start shooting, then we can get involved.

So instead, which side should we pick? Every side in the dispute is violating international law, every side has a government that is abhorrent to the Constitution. So which one should we be on?

So we should side with a country who has expelled our military, conducts extrajudicial murder of its citizens, and is doing all of the same illegal actions that China is?

 

I guarantee that Filipino interests more closely align with ours than those of the Chinese.

Just like how the interests of Nazi Germany aligned with ours more than the Soviet Union, so we should have sided with the Nazis, right?

So. Sometimes you don't have the option of waiting for a side populated by saints. Its in the overall interests of the United States to restrict the growth and application of Chinese power in the region.
