Which is the demonstrated best method of making border security secure? Forget Trump. Where has there been some genuine success in border security?

 

I suppose they may have thought that the term was self explanatory.

 

That is their second problem in supposing instead of positively knowing does not work in the Federal government.

If you want US Taxpayer monies for a border wall...you better have a detail plan of what it is....and all the engineering and logistics of what the total cost is... BEFORE one dollar should be spent.

 

Agreed, but Trump's order was rather detailed.

Six companies were awarded contracts to build eight prototypes, with two companies winning contracts for barriers constructed of both concrete and “other materials”. Among the four prototypes made of "other materials," one was made of corrugated sheet metal with a pipe at the top, one had a concrete base with an opaque metal top half, and two (the only see-through designs of the eight) were made with metal poles making up the bottom half of the structures. These wining prototypes were tested between October and December 2017, and graded on five different factors: scaling, breaching, constructability, engineering design and aesthetics".

Now there is the inevitable confusion about the design, cost, conflicting political input, and so on. Trump should put some of his people in charge, those who have served him well internationally, and get the thing built. The Army Corp of Engineers might oversee.
A project of this size cannot be left to the politicians and bureaucrats or nothing will ever be done.

Trump needs to keep asking for a billion here and a billion there ....to keep the myth alive.

This is not the way federal infrastructure projects are completed.

There was a problem with the border long before Trump became President and the issue was part of his election campaign. To make this all about Trump now only indicates that you're not aware of what's been going on for several years.
