Trump should cancel election and declare martial law

Scary what some members of this forum wanted Trump to do.

 

Not just some members of this forum, over 70 million people wanted to install a demented dictator.

 

I never heard Trump in any way suggest that. Any group will have it's radicals, but I also never saw a comment other than sarcasm suggesting that from an Individual. Plenty from the left suggesting it, but they were on a sabotage course from day one, and that motive promoted claims of every kind.
I did hear people saying martial law should be considered in the areas where rioting was extreme and local enforcement laid down, but that is another subject.

Politics have become crazy- but in many ways reflect the absurdity of many public views from people that are working hard to get press coverage and influence people instead of allowing them to think for themselves. I consider that dangerous.

 

It sounds like you’re saying they’re not personally responsible for their own actions. “They we’re sarcastic!” Is defending them, not telling them to hold themselves accountable.

 

Flynn, Stone, Wood, Powell all pushed for martial law to steal the election.

Trump had an executive order on his desk, ready to go, to do just this. Two of them in fact.

 

I'm saying that if you don't understand the difference between sarcasm and direct allegations, you are going to be very confused often.
Sarcasm- is a way to illustrate how ludicrous a situation is, not a directive.

Yeah doubling down is not telling telling them to be personally responsible. Are you really saying the OP was being sarcastic when he advocated for martial law? How about the Trump legal team after they failed to find widespread voter fraud? Even if they were sarcastic, their words can be reasonably read in different ways. A call to “stand back and standby by” can very easily be read as a call to orders to be violent. So too does it go for the little people who excused that message. They were not responsible and need to be called out. So who will do it?

 

How people can interpret things like "stand back and stand by" to be some call for revolt requires a seriously obsession with hate of the targeted person. Not logic or reason or justification- but unreasonable hate; which displaces logic and reason is an obsessed mind. One hell of a stretch- and a threat only in the minds of a person determined to twist it into one.
THOSE are the people who need to be called out. THEY are the trouble-makers, the instigators, the spoilers. THEY are the people destroying this nation- right now. Without a clue, without a better plan, without a thought to the responsibility for their own actions.

What you interpret is YOUR creation- your misunderstanding. When the statement requires paranoia to be seen as a threat, it's not the statement that's wrong.

 

Except “those” people are on a spectrum. They’re not just the people who will be violent. But silently support it from the side, those who won’t mind if it happens. And they need people to stand up to them and hold them personally responsible. So who will make sure those people on the sidelines, who support the violent but don’t commit acts of violence are held personally accountable? When a person makes a sarcastic post, who will be personally responsible and call them out on it?

You say I’m paranoid because I rightfully point out the insurgents sentiment hasn’t gone away, but that’s not very personally responsible now is it? Could it be the case that people advocating for personal responsibility and failing to uphold those standards for themselves, are a sign of things to come? A bunch of insurgents get jail time but will their silent supporters do the same? Or will they be allowed to make “sarcastic” remarks unabated?
