So much for your theory about rich folks.
You can't walk down the street without clothes on, either. More totalitarianism? Trump and his drug warrior followers send people to jail for smoking pot, and you get your knickers wadded up over being told to wear a mask to slow the spread of the coronavirus?

You're upset about a mask? You ain't seen nothin' yet. Do you really think parents will be able to send unvaccinated children off to school?
To the Liar-in-Chief, much of his cabinet, and so on.
Who says they don't believe wearing a mask might protect others from them?[/QUOTE]
So, I decide not to wear a mask because Trump and Pelosi sometimes don't. I somehow get it and pass in on to your kid (I taught school.) Your kid passes it on to your dad and he dies. Is that okay with you? I got my rights, don't I?
Rich people live in the nicest homes, travel in private jets, stay in the nicest hotels, eat in the best restaurants, go to the best doctors, and on and on. They don't care if you can't live as they do.

    Good optic?

    Because people have boats?

    Is that what you meant?

Jesus. That is what you meant.

What absolute nonsense, and this is precisely whats wrong with the new generation of economics and social justice.

Because somebody is laid off, others shouldn't use their "expensive toys". Wtf?

The jealousy, envy, and entitlement is absolutely astounding.

To be honest, i don't give a **** about rich people being rich, or people being unemployed. Both of them have nearly zero impact on my life, and I'm most certainly not going to change my lifestyle for them. Especially, to protect their emotions.

I simply can't understand this illogical nonsense thinking by some people.

And deflection, without responding to a single point made.

    What a waste of time.

British Columbia (5m people) has 211 coronavirus dead, about 14,000 if their numbers are scaled to our size.
Yeah, we're staying in Canada, not dividing time between Canada and Oregon, until this country gets the virus under control.
I just need Trump to stay the hell out of Canada. :)

That you do not understand something does not make it less true. This was not a good optic.

    Nothing to say?

I asked you what Trump did that was wrong and you didn't answer.

I pointed out how democrats literally worked against keeping the virus contained and you called it meaningless.

You don't seem to have a point other than you hate Trump.

The awful people who chanted antisemitic crap are on the right.
Antisemitic crap happens every day. Where have you been?
The World according to @Steve N.
Bring up slavery? No, you did that.

Tell me, how many liberals can you name who, for example, favor school vouchers, medical vouchers, and who think Roe v. Wade was a bad decision? Bet you can't name one.

My comment was addressed to @jcarlilesiu, not you.
    Lies are always meaningless.
I'm an economist and I've had plenty to say about Trump. Economic growth was almost identical over Trump's first three years to Obama's last three.

    BE2E47B6-FD84-4B03-985E-0630F575CB95.jpeg

Yet Trump pushes the flat lie he's done wonders for the economy.

Trump gave 85% of the personal tax cut to people making $400,000 per year.

    Need more?

How was a partial ban on Chinese nationals going to stop the virus?

You should read FactCheck and get what happened straight:

Trump downplayed the virus threat, delayed by more than a month banning travel from Europe, and then encouraged lockdown protests in several Democratic states. He also failed to get testing straightened out.
    Whataboutism Alert!

    We were talking about Trump.
Held accountable for not wearing a mask? I hope so.
Most of the medical community believes the deaths are undercounted.
I'll tell you one thing ... have the President set national standards for combatting the virus and get Congress to pass legislation that finances it.

I got mine by turning in a contractor who hire illegals as day labor and claimed them as employees. I don't know about now, but then there was a 10% bounty of what they owed on turning in tax cheats. I got enough to buy a few year old Bass Tracker and trailer.

I don't see how he cheated as far as taxes by classifying them as employees since he would then have had to take taxes out on them, but okay. It seems like hiring them as employees but claiming them as independent contractors would be the only way he could evade taxes.

And his assumption is reasonable. BLM, Defund the Police, are on the left as are those in power trying to appease them. Could there be a few righties coming up on some free stuff? Could there be some rightie arsonists trying to make the lefties look worse? Sure.

Not everyone that opposes the results the left is known for, is a Trumper.

No, that is an entitled everybody gets a trophy optic.

That if anybody is experiencing difficulty that it is a bad optic for others to enjoy the wealth they have accumulated for themselves?

When I graduated from college in the early 2000's the economy was ****. I sold TVs at a local department store to get by. It's astounding to me that people think that my individual situation, or the situation of others, is somehow grounds that others should hide their wealth or feel that they should be concerned with how others perceive their success and individual situations.

    Ill bet you're a millennial.

Millions of people peacefully protested discrimination against blacks and we see on this forum the usual sickening, mindless crap from Trumpers about looters and arsonists. Then a forum Trump apologist gets upset when he's associated with rightwing antisemites shouting, "Jews will not replace us."
"Defund the police" makes sense if we end some of the idiotic rightwing policies that have two million Americans in jail. We can end the "war on drugs" and free up some money for rehab.

Joe Biden says looters and arsonists should be arrested and prosecuted, and he says he opposes defunding police departments. Doesn't sound like appeasement. Trump, on the other hand, won't denounce good ol' boys cruising minority communities in pickup trucks firing paintballs at residents.
Nor everyone who thinks Trump is a malignant narcissist crook is a liberal.

Nice emotional rant. I will agree with you on many right wing policies, but in the end, CA is an example of what can be expected when the other side has a super majority. Is anyone keeping score on righties chanting about Jews and lefties burning buildings, cars, rioting, looting, etc?

So Trump supporters peacefully assembled in their boats and had a parade. Oh the humanity!

We live in a capitalist society. Some people are going to have "more" because we incentivize productive economic activity. In fact, our system is so productive we can as an individual with industry and skill make "more" while society takes good care of those too sick, too old, or too young to work.

It follows we'll have people with fancy cars, big houses, and boats. We can find a happy medium where both everyday folks and the highly skilled benefit. It should be obvious we run into problems when one or the other end of the spectrum try to run the table.

Over the past four decades, we've had an imbalance we'll have to correct soon.

    66A2D9EE-AB9A-4F9D-B61C-F277E65AFB1D.jpeg

The economy is twice the size per capita as it was in 1980, but the median weekly earnings of full-time workers in just 10% higher. Low-skill workers have often seen their wages drop.

Low-skill, high-wage jobs are vanishing. I made $3.05/hour as a supermarket clerk in 1963, double on Sundays and holidays. That would be $25.57 and $51.14 today.

No one working in a supermarket makes $50/hour on Sunday in 2020.

Trump says he cares about everyday folks but he and the Republican Congress gave 85% of the personal tax cut to people making $400,000.

The one thing we shouldn't do is allow vested interests to control policy.

Taxes need to be lowered for all and spending needs to be slashed. While you have good points, the Democrats petri dish shows that even the highest tax rate produces the highest poverty and largest gap between the rich and poor.

There are countries with higher taxes that have strong growth and high per capita GDP, so cutting taxes and spending isn't necessary, just a choice.

Go back and forth between the two links.
The problem in California is and has been real estate prices, caused by the state climate, sustained low interest rates, the strong state economy, and a lack of state, local, and federal measures to slow down price increases. The state personal tax rates aren't at fault.
