they did but that’s not an anchor point of our history. At the time there was but a single British colony in what would 157 years later become the United States of America.

Its part of our history and it should be taught. Not ignored because some extremists don't like it because it makes them feel uncomfortable and it doesn't look good.

Have you read any of the 1619 project?

    1619 didn't occur?

Sorry, 1619 is a critical date in our history. History didn't begin in 1776.

Slavery is indeed an anchor point in history.

Will you just STOP with the semantic quibbling bull SH*T. We are a Constitutional Republic DEMOCRATICALLY based. That means we have pretty much UNIVERSAL suffrage and a strong judiciary to oversee things within a written framework

It does NOT mean we have an Electoral College, which is an oligarchial mechanism. It doesn't mean we CAN'T have one but it isn't necessary by any means.

Marxism, communism, socialism. Dead beliefs that no significant country follows any more. Generally of historical interest only.

Because something that happened here in an English colony before the pilgrims arrived on the Mayflower 400 years ago is so critical to American history.

It is a important part of history as it happened and was commonplace all over the world in history and still persists in some places.

No, I have taken much inspiration from the collective wisdom of the founding fathers.

I won’t support de emphasizing that legacy.

But ideas are only as good as their execution.

And the three-fifths compromise is the Republic’s original sin.

We should constantly remind the generations of it, and center their awareness on addressing the divisions its legacy has perpetuated.

Reasonable people have moved on. The only people obsessed with perpetuating racial division are the Democrats. I'm a woman, but do you think I sit around each day raging about how I wasn't always allowed to vote? Hell no, because I'm not a vindictive lunatic cry baby.

It is 2020. As a nation we were so close to being post racial, until the Democrats realized the power they could wield if they could stir up enough divisiveness and race-based anti-white animosity. (Obama, here's looking at you and your legacy, you piece of racist garbage.)

Another attempt to sweep our history under the rug. It’s called indoctrination. We’d benefit from learning our history straight—warts, character flaws, and all.

We already are aware of flaws and mistakes made in our exceptional nations history. You think history doesn’t cover slavery or the trail of tears and other such things? The 1619 project wants us to minimize every success deny all good, and obsess over every mistake like a teen looking at a facial zit for hours on end and say that only our mistakes define what this country is to them. No thanks!
