You miss the point. Mexicans and South Americans aren't allowed to just come here legally through legal ports of entry like white immigrants in the past were. The system makes that nearly impossible for most.

That's laughable. I agree there's a backlog of immigrants(well, there's a backlog of everything) and in of itself that begs slowing down LEGAL immigration(that's not a stance of the Trump Administration. It could have been however, if they chose.) And it's a different subject. But by and large, there's a legal process and I'd rather them go through the legal process even if it takes them longer.

 

The first big wave of nonwhite immigrants, yes. But white people were immigrating to the U.S. looooong before 1850.

 

If Trump tries this stunt, he WILL be checked.

And in short order, as well.

He does not get to play dictator. And he is no king. Time we teach him that lesson.

He not only couldnt' get his way through the normal process, even when he had solid majorites in both houses, but he badly bungled this shutdown.

If Trump pulls this stunt (and there is every reason to believe that he is that stupid), he will be stopped, for the good of the nation.

Barack Obama would never have dreamed of pulling a stunt like this.

And the hypocrates in the talk radio right yelled and screamed that he was subverting the constitution for far less than this.

 

They are not needed so its stupid to allow more

 

We need a clean bill that funds the government and border security.

Actually, slowing down legal immigration was a Trump stance this time last year.

But he makes it up as he goes along, and now he's pretending the opposite.

The reality is that he doesn't really give a ****. All he cares about is whether folks like you will keep swallowing his bs.

 

This should be the one issue that brings both sides together. We should stand together and oppose government power and overreach, even if we agree with what they are doing.

The legal process is a joke. It is much more arduous to immigrate here legally than in the past (when you really couldn't immigrate illegally to the U.S...there simply wasn't such a thing). And actually, the Trump administration is slowing down legal immigration.

Like I said, different subject and I actually am for it, for financial reasons mostly(which would be a long post, but to keep it concise, ADULT immigrants place a demand upon the market for immediate hiring, lest they be unemployed(or underemployed as the illegal immigrant in the cabbage field, etc.). It is this unemployment/underemployment that has led to for example the rising costs of hospital beds, the increased welfare usage, etc. All of these would go down with a moderate number of immigrants, instead of the high number we presently deal with.

We cannot be the country of the world, nor can we afford to 'huddle their sullied masses'. It'd bankrupt us. You see no other country taking that responsibility.
