Having never believed in the two state solution I think in the long run this is a turning point for the Palestinians. The rest of the world will have no excuse now to hide the fact the US will do as Israel directs. I already see right wingers on here going after the Jews, long a target for christian antisemitism.It will only get worse as the cost of supporting Israel goes up.

Hopefully a leader will emerge from the Palestinians able to capitalise on the Israeli greed and theft of land and people can stop pretending it is a religious war.

Move the Embassy
Shifting the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem could actually benefit the Israeli-Palestinian peace process.


For all the talk of Arab solidarity with the Palestinian cause, Arab governments have proven far more content to exploit the issue for their own political ends than do anything to improve the miserable living conditions of Palestinians in refugee camps or pressure Palestinian leaders to accept reality and make peace with Israel. The "Arab street" clearly hasn't cared enough to force those governments to change course.

Finally, in response to fears that an embassy move will impede growing Israeli ties with Cairo, Riyadh or Amman or prevent those governments from going public with those ties in the future, here are two thoughts: First, those governments are working more with Israel not out of newfound love for the Jewish state but out of shared interests – e.g., for Saudi Arabia, confronting the common enemy of Iran; for Cairo, fighting jihadists in the Sinai. The need for such private collaboration won't change whether America moves its embassy or not.

As for the chance that Cairo, Riyadh or Amman might go public with those ties in the future, that's a long-shot to begin with, and not a reason to halt a landmark political move that could generate the other benefits described above.....snip~

He actually said he loved the sound of the Muslim call to prayer, he said once, "My Muslim faith", and had to be corrected by the interviewer, and he kissed axx to every Muslim extremist terrorist supporting dictator around the world, especially Iran. I'd say that was spot on if not going easy. Obama's parents were Muslim so naturally he does hold some Muslim beliefs. Not a problem, but he should just admit it.

State Department?? What's that?? I figured Trump was just looking at building a new Trump hotel in Jerusalem and is using this as an excuse.... And knowing Trump, he LITERALLY wants the US officials in Tel Aviv to rent a U-Haul and load it up themselves, such is the respect he has for our 'State Department'. I would hope our people over there would just let calls identified on caller ID as 'W. House' roll over to voice mail.
