An only bigots and neo-Nazi's seem to think that a business who wants a license to serve "the public" has a "right" to discriminate against any part of the public they choose. Since there is no law that is designed to designate what part of the population is NOT worthy of equal rights protection (and the South lost the war, ya know), law abiding, tax paying citizens can walk into any establishment that serves THE PUBLIC and expect to be served. Period. This is especially important for areas that do not have more that one establishment within easy reach, as allowing the bigots to have their way would encourage de-facto segregation, monopoly, etc. Don't like that, LEAVE! No one is stopping you.

And since with all the gun laws (which have been around in various forms since the 1700's) still does NOT prevent a law abiding home owner/citizen from getting a gun (depending on various state laws), all that blather about banning of guns is just that...nonsense. Mind you, a guy in the 1700's wasn't allowed a cannon on his front lawn, ya know.

But let's not stop there, let me school you on the "general public". If your theory were correct, then every citizen would have the lawful obligation of taking someone in their home. Because their homes exist on 'public property'. But we find that this ISN'T the case at all. We find that such a thing would be called trespassing!

So, what makes commerce different? What makes commerce different are the licenses handed out by law from the federal government, 'authorizing' the business to make its sales. And that license, carries with it rules and regulations. Which is where the civil rights act comes in(See: The Fair Housing Act for an easier to understand concept of the same thing.)

Yes, that's right. The business is not owned by the Federal Government, contrary to the president. They did build that and earned that, in a 'mutual' contract with the government. That's what the CRA is, in a nutshell. So we find once again that you have very little understanding of what you're talking about.

However, in 2016, there's no longer a need for these "civil" protections. Because by and large, money is no longer concentrated by race(even if you argue successfully that a disparity exists.). And most businesses would not act in a racial manner even without the said rules. They'd be losing billions in customer sales. My position is with the Libertarians with regards to the CRA. Wonderful idea, but it ended up being too restrictive and unnecessary today.

Of course, these discussions are for the big boys. You're better off stomping on NY with the other kiddies.

What Dems did under Bush or Reps did under Obama? Depending on who you talk to, it's either obstructionism or effective policy opposition.

But to give you something that I think we may agree on, I believe the situation with the backlog on justice nominations is completely uncalled for. I'd like to see things changed such that a nominee to the supreme court or a circuit court would have to be voted on within 100 days. That's more than enough time to vet any candidate. The idea that such nominations can be tabled indefinitely is completely crazy; we should be able to count on an up or down vote taking place in a reasonable amount of time, no matter who is sitting in the Senate or in the White House. Both major parties have been guilty of playing this game, and it should stop.

You should get out more, because obviously you missed out on the results of the near depression under Reagan, and how things have declined since then. Hell, Nixon's 5 year plan was touted to screw up the economy for 30 years by some experts back in the day. And Trump in his private life DID NOTHING TO CHANGE THIS. Since the vast majority of his supporters can't afford to stay one night in one of his hotels, I'm amazed they bought into his BS. But they will now see what reality is.

 

Obviously, you have NEVER had to be hospitalized, gone to a doctor for a thorough physical or just go through dental cleaning and X-rays. For the rest of us humans in the real world, these things would put a serious kibosh on any "savings account"...and have! Oh, and since you're never sick, you don't have to worry about paying for a prescription without insurance....you can thank the Shrub for those prices.

I lived the "near depression" of the Reagan years, 2 years after Reagan took office I could finally buy my first house, one I was ready to buy in 77 but couldn't because Jimmuh Carter's policies had interest rates at double digits so we had to wait. The only "depression" in the Reagan years was liberal hand wringing. Reagan's policies created 25 million jobs and they weren't at Burger King.

Tell me friend which gun laws in the 1700's were they? I know of only 3, 1 Illegal to sell guns to Natives and 2 all homes MUST have a firearm. 3 some states (southern) made it illegal for slaves to own a gun. The 2nd amendment was ratified in 1791.
