Don’t know if you knew this but it’s 2018. The idea that you need to punish people who had nothing to do with the crimes of the past in order to make people who never suffered those crimes feel better about thier pathetic whittle feelings is pretty damn stupid. What’s the old saying? 2 wrongs don’t make a right.

I agree with the idea that back 60 odd years ago when there was still systematic racism infecting the system that these laws were necessary. But times have changed. At this point if some minority group isn’t where the want to be they have only themselves to blame. Not fake “white privilege”.

It's a smart move but pardoning a handful of people doesn't solve the problem. The NFL kneelers basically want an end to racism. But that simply cannot be achieved.

Wow. football players are the 'natural avenues for such information'. I would have thought that might be - say - the national association of public defenders or the Innocence Project. They may know a case or two involving potential injustices due to circumstances of poverty or overzealous or unethical prosecutorial conduct. There are other ways presidents in the past have acquired their lists for commutation or pardon besides asking professional ball players.

It's a "back-handed" gesture, and it's a means to expose the players disingenuous "social injustice" meme. Kaepernicks "statement" was the only real gesture, truly meant to "raise awareness". The rest was all just another manifestation of the "resistance" collective TDS.

What are you on about? Who are you to say it's not a free speech issue? A white house staffer perhaps? Or just another American Russophobe? WTF does Russia even have to do with the NFL players taking a knee during the anthem?

Is the First Amendment enforceable only when you or Donald Drumpf say so?

Are you suggesting the First Amendment expires when one signs a work contract? If that's your claim, I would be interested in seeing the language of such a contract.

I understand that for safety and other considerations a job may require that, for example, an employee might not be able to wear rings and other jewelry including religious jewelry, but I don't think the employee gives up the right to express opinions while at work.

Safety shoes and glasses are not really the same as free speech.

MAKING THEM AN OFFER THEY CAN’T ACCEPT: Trump Will Ask Anthem Kneelers to Recommend Subjects for Presidential Pardon.

The proposal won’t go anywhere, which is exactly what Trump expects. His effort to “reach out” to protesting players may or may not be genuine, but it puts the protesting players on the defensive. Trump has made the first move. If the players, as expected, spurn his advance — and probably call him all sorts of names in the process — the players look small and petty while Trump looks large and magnanimous.

    Saul Alinsky, call your office.

My guess is that none of the genuflecting players will lower themselves to speak with the president.

But I may be guessing wrong.

It’s getting better and people had the same whine you have...and now they’re just threatened, because they see the pie being shared by too many. They can’t have it all

How about the actual language of the 1st amendment:

"Congress shall make no law.....abridging the freedom of speech"

Doesn't say anything about NFL owners or employers.......

One ounce of intelligence feigning to be otherwise. You don’t know half of what you don’t know about the world you think you live in. You are a programmed handmade puppet to the System, unable to think for yourself and too dumbed down to know WHY.

More racism and hatred. Is that all you can do?

As for the anthem thing again. It does matter and It is not a false equivalence. There were literally both mercenaries and slaves in the dirt fighting for the British and who’s fate Keys choose to mention in the poem. What reason would he have to not mention them? Why would mentioning them, when you already admit you acknowledge they were there, be automatically racist? Are you implying that merely saying the word slave is racist? Are you implying that stating the fact that they were there is racist? Should he have not mentioned people that were literally there just because they were slaves? Why? There is literally nothing about your argument that makes even the most remote concept of the word sense. Kindergarteners can come up with better logic then this.

Here let’s try this. Why do YOU think he said the word slave? Since you are incapable of understanding others explaining it to you let’s hear your thoughts.

And enough with your racism and bigotry. It’s old. It’s pathetic. No one cares. Get over yourself. So just don’t bother bringing it up anymore.

Those who disrespect the national anthem are not champs in the eyes of many -- they are chumps. IMHO (and many others) being able to run, jump, or throw/catch a ball does not make someone a hero or a role model. I don't know why the President would waste his time meeting with these people when he could meet with (for example) military personnel who have served their country, police officers, or people who have otherwise done something to benefit our country.

Well let us know when you find some black athletes who are disrespecting the national anthem.

…..but being a man who tells folks to go up and grab a woman's ***** is a role model to you though.

You mean why would he waste his time meeting with black folks whom you don't like.
