I’m telling you the poll used samples 35% Democrats when only 29% identify as Democrats and they sampled 26% republicans while 30% identify as republicans.
F.D.R. should Never count. Not just a totally different era but also mindset.F.D.R. ran four times and won.He also Interred American' citizens { Japanese et.al. } and was never held accountable for his Inaction regarding Pearl Harbor.F.D.R. was informed of an imminent attack and purposedly held back.Ther've been movies made of it. F.D.R. was actually a cruddy President. He extended the Dust Bowl decade by use of his playing footies with the Banks and creating programs like the Works Project Adm. Obama pulled the same stunt { or excuse } for his First Major bill a few weeks into his Presidency. His $ 862 Billion Stimulus Bill. It was declared " urgent " and was to be used for Bridges and Roads and shovel-ready jobs.It was bunk.
Corona is a game changer - but it is difficult to predict who this will help so we will leave this for now as an unknown. Trump should never have won the last election - was handed to the Dems on a Silver Platter due to the demographic time bomb. Simply put - the Republican platform is far to dated and does not appeal to the younger crowd - they need to lose their extreme anti abortion anti gay position. . This is countered by being viewed as better for the economy. The Anti Establishment (AE) movement determined the out come of the last election. This happened on both sides. One the Blue side however - Hillary marginalized these voters by what she did to Sanders. The Blue AE likely did not switch to red in droves but - many stayed on the couch. Then you have the fact that Hillary was a horrible candidate - so arrogant and condescending that even many Dem women do not like here - although voting while holding nose. No plan nothing to vote for - just "Bad Trump Bad Trump" like some parrot on a broken record. Yet - Hillary still got more votes than Trump. Biden Sanders seemed to have awoken blacks and latinos. If these folks show up to vote - I give Red very little chance. 4 years have passed and the demographic time bomb has gotten worse. This is the situation going into Corona - The one big Trump card however was the economy. Corona - thus far - has severely weakened that Card (and the economy may not recover even after corona) and doubtful that we will be completely through this by October. The second thing that Corona has increased the power of one of the Blue cards which is Healthcare. A blue victory will hurt my business - but it going to be very tough sledding for Red. Would be a major coup is Trump could pull it off but will be very tough. There is no sure bet at this point.
Most Polling favors a higher sample of Democrats responding. That is why on the morning of November 8th 2016 All the Major newspapers had Hillary winning big.By anywhere from 70-90 %.
I seem to be THE Only poster at PF who harps on this. The Only Reason Hillary had More Popular votes { around 2.9 Million } is California. She had more than 4.2 Million more votes in California than Trump. Hillary - 8,753,788 Trump- 4,443,810
Are you serious? MSN, politico and Newsweek? Lol Well if that’s the level of source you’re providing let me go find a breitbart study
You pay attention. This is the source you provided. https://www.cnn.com/2020/03/15/politics/trump-approval-rating-coronavirus/index.html The polls they’re referring to oversampled Democrats and undersampled republicans. What do you think is going to happen when you do that?
You completely missed the point - and have some respect for the source. I can't stand Hillary - and state why in my post. The point - is that given how horrible the candidate was - and what she did - and was caught thanks to Wiki - the Dems still got a whole lot of votes more than they should have. Obama had been in power 8 years and had turned out to be a dud - did not deliver for blacks and latinos for example - in any great way. Rational discussion requires making some attempt to understand the argument being put forth. The discussion here is about what the situation will be this time - and my assessment is that this will not be a slam dunk for Trump - as the poster was suggesting. and yes - California will again vote Blue. What think you about the upcoming battle .. preferably with some reference to my previous comments .. I threw a bunch out .. demographic time bomb, united Black Latino Coalition that look to be able to get the vote out. On the other side - even if Trump is not blamed for the bad economy - and he shouldn't be with respect to corona - the economic Trump card has lost some power.
That is so funny. It has been social distancing that has been keeping the virus at bay. The virus first hit Washington, yet it has not spread near as much as elsewhere. Oregon also has a low rate of infection. The governors of both states acted quickly to close down both states. Idaho, which is lackluster in public health concerns, has a higher rate of infection, even though there are a lot fewer people. It will be interesting to see the results of states like Florida having Easter celebrations. I wonder if it will follow the pattern of infections following Mardi Gras.
I know that in the universe you live in, Trump is a victim. But fortunately that delusional view is not shared by the majority. Trump has the extraordinary ability to think he's perfect under any circumstance. The longer he continues to do so, the more disconnected he will appear to be from the electorate. So I wish he'd stay the same narcissist he's always been. Which will not be difficult for him. People already believe he mishandled the pandemic. You think they'll change their minds as the dead pile up in refrigerated trucks? On the economy, despite historically low unemployment, GDP has made little progress. Debt was already gargantuan before the pandemic. Now it will take Americans at least 25 years to pay it off. Anyway, the unemployment rate will probably be around 15% in November.
There is a lot of anti-Trump energy in the country. There are a lot of people angry over what the Republican Party has become. In the last election cycle, the governor and senator from Georgia most likely won only because of voter suppression efforts. Same with Florida. In the upcoming election both Colorado and Arizona are going to lose their Republican Senators and gain Democratic ones. It is why Trump is so opposed to mail in ballots. Of the states who have adopted all mail in voting, the rate of participation has gone up and the Republicans have lost seats. This virus crisis is helping move the country towards all mail in voting. Bernie Sanders has been saying this all along, a big turnout and the Democrat wins. A low turnout and we get the booby prize, more Trump.
We're talking about the Chinese Virus not the Spanish Flu ..(try and keep up) ... Chinese corruption and deceit and how this Chinese Virus have destroyed western economies and will be sued by many countries in the west for Trillions of dollars... (thanks for reminding me to make sure I use the country of origin - ie Spanish flu" next post you're outraged again about using Chinese virus while you freely refer to the Spanish flu) hypocrite
