    Your contention that LBJ 's Great Society destroyed the Afro-American middle class just your opinion and it utterly ridiculous. That does not mean that it was any raving success either. So how did it in your opinion destroy the Afro-American middle class?

    You and others keep harping on the fact that Southern Democrats were racist because they were Democrats. No they were opposed to integration because of their Southern belief that segregation was their way of life and they did not want the federal government o interfere in their lives. But oh please please federalis send us goodies and build more military bases in the South so we can get more goodies from the big bad federal government

    Opposition to segregation was not a policy platform of the Democratic party. In the 1960's there were no Republican Senators from the South. That is a holdover from the Civil War and reconstruction because Lincoln "FREED THEM SLAVES" and Republican administrations let Blacks hold public office for a short time before Jim Crowism set in and the good ol Southern Boy TOOK THEIR COUNTRY BACK !!! Sound familiar. ????


    Funny that you admit that it took Republican votes to pass civil rights acts well that is bipartisanship isn't it. That is way different from today right !!

    It Destroyed the African American Middle Class By Destroying the African American Family. And It was Jim Crow that was created by Democrats and largely Destroyed by Republicans Scotus nominees. There is no sin in bipartisanship to do the right thing. And let's not forget that the KKK were Progressives in every since of the word including embracing the Eugenics movement so prevalent among progressives in the 20's and 30's. Of course when they talked about undesirables they meant African Americans, so did Margaret Sanger Smith. By the way I don't admit that it took Republican votes to pass the Civil Rights act I am proud of my party for doing the decent thing. I am only saddened by the fact that Barry Goldwater proved correct that certain provisos within it would be used to strip African Americans of the credit for their own success, successes that African-Americans paid for dearly with their own Blood, Sweat, and Tears.
