Simmer down, the bad orange man isn't going to take away your little twitter temper tantrum chamber.

Trump is just blustering to call attention to twitter's double standards and suppression of conservative opinions, and it's working like a charm, because the cats can't not chase the laser dot.

Maybe the tweet where he said "strongly regulate, or close them down"?

Yes, and for a few hours, we aren't talking about the pandemic, which Trump made exponentially worse...

Temporary win for him, but it's not going away.... Looking at the Alabama and Missouri (real) numbers and even the Georgia and Florida (disputed) numbers...

No I’m saying their fact checking is clearly disproportionate depending upon what side of the political aisle you’re on.

Fair enough. But trump tweets lots of things. What matters are the policies he enacts. And nothing in this EO shuts down anyone. It just removes their protections.

Or provides guidelines for doing so.

Looks like Jack Dorsey wants Trump to be on his best behavior.

What I like about Trump's twittering is it assesses human intelligence.

For example, if you believe Trump's tweets are all fact-based/flawless, then obviously, your IQ is below 70.

That's the problem. They should apply their rules equally, or not at all.

Yeah, it's almost like a president should have a filter between their brain and their mouth and fingers.

Removing those protections will allow them to be sued out of existence. A platform is liable for every defamatory or illegal thing posted on it won't last six months without cracking down heavily on TOS abusers. If Trump thinks Twitter and Facebook are censoring conservatives now, just wait until they are susceptible to defamation suits when a politician spouts a bunch of lies about an opponent or a private citizen. Trump can tweet out accusations about people committing crimes because he's a politician and effectively immune to libel laws. Twitter is not.

To be clear, it is extremely unlikely that Trump's EO will be upheld. But if it is, he can kiss his favorite midnight rant platform goodbye, in one sense or another.

There’s an easy way for them to solve that. Either fact check everyone and everything or don’t put themselves in a position to fact check anything.

It’s not their responsibility to ensure that people on their platform are speaking the truth. If it is, then they have the consequences of being sued when they allow falsehoods.

No, dictatorships begin with Deep State coup attempts.

The Obama Administration hacked Sharyl Atkisson's computer, she has a lawsuit going now, and they used the IRS against political opponents, and had a lot to do with my comment above.

When social media goes from being a conduit for other's views to issuing proclamations in a politically biased way, they become a publisher and can be sued. CNN is doing Twitter's fact checking, give me a break, where was the fact checking during the years long Russia hoax?

Imagine if social media were allowed to get away with their censorship of conservatives and the next Dem administration takes office, they'd probably try to shut down FOX, Rush, etc.

Trump's EO would make them liable for false posts about individuals and organizations. And when that happens, they'll have to remove the posts rather than simply "fact check" them.

I suspect Rush will be "shutdown" by the time of the next administration, regardless of who it is...

They opened this Pandora's Box when their biases got the best of them and they started censoring the POTUS.

Or they could not fact check or remove posts for that reason anyway and they wouldn’t be liable and they wouldn’t have to worry about his EO would they?

Now the left has the right to shut down FOX.

    Thanks to Trump.

Is it? Or is it a reaction to the censorship bound by ideological conformity with socialists and communists that these platforms are adopting? I'd say the latter. Given the close and tight relationship these platforms have with the communists in China, it is difficult to believe that these companies aren't doing this at the behest of the Chinese government. You simply seem blind to that. That is both telling, and dangerous.

Trump lies and spreads false information to excess.

    You're supporting a demagogue.

And you failed to answer the question. It seems all you have is but'... look,.... over there... instead of actually responding to the assertion which is these platforms spreading the propaganda of nations that aren't the friends of the US. Why is that?

I try to have as little interaction with the fanatics as possible.

A Trump twit has just been categorized by Twitter as glorifying violence.

Probably another coup attempt by leftists...

I remember just a few months ago when the Dems were for what the President is wanting to do.....

    https://www.cnbc.com/2020/01/17/biden-wants-to-get-rid-of-techs-legal-shield-section-230.html

"Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden told The New York Times editorial board that tech’s legal shield known as Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act should be revoked."

It's amazing, when the President actually agrees with you all how you all flip flop
