In fact as of yet almost all reliable sources indicate that there is damn little to be know except that a raid on a Taliban site in Afghanistan turned up a butt load of money that one of the Taliban fighters said came from Russia. Whether he was just guessing or knew with certainty is unknown at this point and the purpose for which that money was there is also mostly guess work. We've know for years that various actors in and around Afghanistan, including some nominal allies, have been funding the Taliban.
Now ask your self a question, what makes you think the Taliban are more than happy to kill Americans whenever they can. You don't have to bribe people to do things they already want to do any way.

So what - both sides help to kill the other side all the time when on opposite sides of a conflict - so even if the story is true - there is no there there. Ave Joe however has no idea - and so will gulp the anti Russia propaganda and fearmongering kool aid down - a continuation from "Russiagate" and the various nonsensical narratives that came with that one.

Then we have the question of whether or not the story is even true - partially true - and so on. Look who the sources is - our intelligence community - who has a long demonstrable track record of lying their faces off - along with the creation of propaganda.

This is doubly true with respect to foreign policy - and triply true with respect to any nation with which we are in conflict. Standard Operating procedure in fact - to be expected.

So forgive me for not attributing much to Trump hearing or not hearing this in a briefing .. the substance of which is often classified - in which case a President is expected to lie .. none of which has any bearing on the fact that there is no "there there" with respect to this issue - other than a bad case of pot calling kettle black - and calling out something which is normal as abnormal - in a fit of Orwellian doublespeak.

There is a great deal we don’t know about the Russian bounties, and we should be exceptionally cautious. But one thing we can state right now is that President Flim Flam should be taking a lot more of an interest in this and should be saying publicly that he is doing so. The thing is, he's not interested. Not in protecting the troops or in protecting the country. He's just interested in how the story effects him.
