Trump's trade war with China

You don't even know what the trade war is trying to achieve. Neither does trump.
Pro tip: Domestically mining and/or manufacturing goods that could have been had cheaper on the global market can never yield a long term good result.

 

I have no idea what you are trying to say. However, China has been ripping us off for too long and it is about time to do something about it. If you like China ripping us off, then bashing Trump is likely the best you can do, if that makes you feel better.

 

I can remember not too many years ago when he left was griping about the influx of cheaper goods because it was destroying our manufacturing capability.

 

Oh sure, they've been ripping us off. How dare they enable us to be globally competitive and have such a high standard of living.

Just remember a few years ago. Walmart was criticized for selling cheap imported goods. The cry was that they should be buying American. OK, now is a good time to buy American. Now that we are in that ideal position to do that, everyone hates it. In short, I do not pay a lot of attention to what people say because about half the time they do not know what they are wishing for.

 

How exactly was this supposed to refute my post? I'm not following. Maybe I haven't had enough coffee.

Anyone criticizing anyone for selling cheap goods is a fool and should be ignored if not soundly ridiculed.

Receiving credit for a great economy is not the same thing as contributing to a great economy. You have been unable to tell us how Trump has contributed to the economy. The reason is simple. He hasn't.

As this thread shows, Trump has threatened our great economy with his harsh tariffs and trade war with China. The tactic is so stupid, that he backed down on his latest tariff. What does that tell you?

That has been one of points all along. I have shown when Trump causes a huge sell-off on Wall Street, those having investment accounts permanently lose principle. Trump supporters don't want to believe it, but they can't dispute the math.

His tariffs cause inflation. Inflation causes recession. Econ 101. Not even Trump supporters dispute that. As you can see, most avoid the issue entirely.

Trump's supporters are not fans of reality. His support is cult-like. It is not based on realism or politics.

 

Now he wants to buy China?

Just kidding.

 

I have asked you a few times to explain what good Trump has done for the economy. You can't provide an answer.

Then you blame me because Trump has done nothing to the economy except threaten it with his trade wars.

You forgot what you said. You also forgot what I said in the post you responded to. You seem to be losing it.

Specifically, we were talking about what Trump has done for the economy, not a list of his accomplishments. I asked for a link to a responsible source, not what someone has said on PF.

Although Trump has repeatedly fanned the trade war flames, he tweeted Sunday that the United States and China were "talking." He also tried to tamp down recession fears, tweeting that an end of the trade war would help boost the US economy.

I am surprised, after over 10,000 lies, Wall Street still believes Trump without supporting data. On the other hand, I am happy about that. Contrary to what Trump supporters say, I don't want a recession for political reasons. Anyone who wants a recession is an idiot.

Of course it stands to reason Wall Street CEO's, who are mostly Republican, want to believe the Republican President. They don't want to believe Trump is harming the economy. After all, Trump changed his mind on the 10% tariffs to save his ass. That's worth something.

 

I did not forget anything. You are just playing with words. There have been a number of posts showing how Trump improved the economy. If you don't believe them, then you won't believe me and I do not want to spend the next week trying to defend them. Bottom line is the Dow has gone up by over 6000 points. The unemployment rate is at an all time low. You can credit whoever, you want because I don't really give a crap. I like where we are now whether you do or not.

 

No, that is false. How do I know? Over the months I have asked that very question on numerous threads. I have yet to get an answer. Why? There is no answer. Trump has done nothing for the economy except attempt to harm it with his trade wars and harsh tariffs.

BS and I have seen them. Regardless, if I came up with something, you would not believe them and I simply do not feel like getting into an endless argument on which there will never be agreement. You might as well quit asking because that is the best you are going to get from me. The economy is good and I am perfectly happy with however it got that way.

 

On August 1, Trump announced a 10% tariff on $300B of Chinese goods popular with the American consumer. That week was the worst week of 2019 on Wall Street. The following Monday, August 5, was, at the time, the worst day of 2019.

Things were getting so bad, on August 13, Trump backed off on the 10% tariff. Stocks rebounded, but not for long. On August 14, the Dow lost over 800 points and that became the new worst day for 2019.

As everyone can plainly see, all that took place within two weeks, and every bit of it was caused by Trump's trade war with China and his harsh tariffs, whether they became real or not.

This didn't stop Trump from lying through his teeth about who was responsible. He talks only to his base, and his gullible base believes every word of it.

Denying the reality of the economic setbacks on Wall Street, Trump said, "Our Economy is very strong." Then he immediately changed his tune and hinted at a recession, blaming the Fed for "horrendous lack of vision by Jay Powell and the Fed."

Then he blamed the Democrats. He said, "the Democrats are trying to 'will' the Economy to be bad for purposes of the 2020 Election." He was lying, offering no evidence to support that claim. He just made it up.

While he was at it, Trump then blamed the media. “The Fake News Media is doing everything they can to crash the economy because they think that will be bad for me and my re-election,” Trump tweeted. He made that up, too.

But, if "Our Economy is very strong" what is Trump talking about? I doubt he knows.

Insisting that the world is against him, Trump blames Google for voter fraud.

I rest my case. Trump is not a well man. More and more he is sounding like man with a paranoid psychosis.

 

The only one bleeding in the Trade war is China... Vietnam on the other hand is booming...business is shifting to Vietnam... there's no tariffs on goods from Vietnam... capiche?
