Isn't that pretty much the story of his life?

I don't know what you're watching. I saw plenty of circumstantial evidence BEFORE the hearings. What I have seen in the hearings is anything but circumstantial.

To overcome the political reticence in the DoJ to convict a proven criminal all we need is to create more reticence to NOT convict him.

With all the evidence we have seen so far, I can't even imagine the political tsunami if the DoJ fails to act.

This isn't a trial. Congress does not hold trials. That's for a court of law, should AG Garland decide to indict. THEN Trump's lawyers can put up a defense.

Garland has said publicly that he and his team of what he called "January 6 procecutors" are watching every minute of it.

With so much information around this, inevitably we're going to have somewhat different experiences of it. I've watched quite a bit of the hearings, but the only one I saw all of was the 3rd.

Personally, I think from what we've seen that it's pretty clear Trump knew he had lost and just wanted to stay in power by any means he could. But that's judging on the balance of probabilities. To prove beyond a reasonable doubt is something completely different. And we have to keep in mind that essentially we're getting one side of the story in the hearings. How much of this evidence could be picked apart? How many witnesses might turn out to be less than credible under cross-examination? We can't know unless it goes to trial. That's why I'm sceptical.

I've heard or read some of the testimony - mostly just nothing burgers. Frankly the extreme bias of the committee's membership drains any value from the hearings. A circle jerk for devout Democultists, ho-hum for everyone else.

They don't have to prove he wanted to stay in power. All they need to prove is that he was carrying out a plan to interfere with the electoral vote count. That would make him guilty of Conspiracy to Defraud the United States, Obstructing the Lawful Function of the Federal Government and Obstructing an Official Proceeding (which doesn't require conscience of wrongdoing.... but it's proven that there was which makes it worse). There are already 11 people who have been convicted of similar charges, and are now sitting in jail for these crimes.

The above are felonies and slam-dunk cases against Trump.

But there is much more to come. The 3rd session pretty much demonstrated that Trump committed Coercion of Political Activity, which makes it a felony to “intimidate (or attempt to), threaten, command, or coerce” a federal employee to engage in political activity. He did this in his call to Pence in which he ended up calling him a "wimp". He also committed Political Use of Official Authority which forbids “a person employed in any administrative position by the United States” from “us[ing] his official authority for the purpose of interfering with, or affecting, the nomination or the election of any candidate for the office of President….” And maybe Conspiracy Against Rights and Deprivation of Rights.

And finally Seditious Conspiracy. For this they might need to prove that the White House came to a tacit or implicit agreement with the insurrectionists. But many legal experts think that less than that could violate the statute.

And we're not even going into State charges committed under District of Columbia and Georgia laws. There are also plenty of those.

The witnesses are Trump's own staff and attorneys. Why would they be less than credible? Why would they lie under oath and expose themselves to perjury?

Unless you're a really good lawyer, I wouldn't be confident anything is a slam-dunk. The law is a very tricksy business.

I don't know. At present I've no reason to doubt them. But who knows what might come out under questioning?

Then you HAVEN'T heard the testimony because they're felonies. Multiple felonies.

It's a slam dunk as slam dunks go. Of course, he could end up getting one of the judges he appointed, and that that particular judge was so grateful that they would put their integrity on the line by not recusing himself and, instead, protect Trump. But this is waaaay more than any attorney would need to put him on trial and expect a conviction. QED

Of what crime and be specific.

You guys have been claiming Trump is going to jail, we got him this time, we really really mean it, just you wait it's coming for over six years and have yet to be able to show a crime he committed.

When do you plan to let us in on it?

These hearings are to prove Trump committed crimes?
