The problem is, Trump will be proclaimed a hero if Kim backs down as a result of his reckless threats, and in the event of Kim's defiance, the U.S. will lose face AND credibility if we don't respond forcefully. . . . Allowing him to feed his ego like this is only prolonging his reign of error.

He will willingly relinquish his crown when his faithful followers abandon him and he no longer basks in the limelight of their captive adoration.

Don't blame me for your blindness. Trump is following the same path as Obama with respect to trampling on the constitution ... increasing Gov't and Police power at the expense of individual liberty.

Your problem is that you are only for liberty for things you agree with. Belief in freedom only for things you agree with is not belief in freedom at all. Everybody believes in freedom for things they agree with. Belief in freedom is belief in freedom for things that you detest - with the caveat that rights end where the nose of another begins.

The founders put individual liberty "ABOVE" the legitimate authority of Gov't. Respect for individual liberty is the main principle on which this nation was founded. Trump has no respect for individual liberty... and neither do you.

Fact is, no matter what Trump may say or do, you will not approve.
Thus, you opinion is relegated to that of frothing hyper-partisan bigotry, and need not be considered.

Except for that which you provide yourself, no such freedom exists.
You have the right to pursue happiness; you do not have the right to have the state force others to provide said happiness to you.

Whatever desperate false hopes you may have to the contrary, Trump will not leave office until his term(s) expire.

    Indeed.
I fully support adopting a policy of immigration thru reciprocity -- we will apply whatever immigration law a country may have for itself to those that seek to immigrate from it.
And future Democrats. This is why the left opposes it.

I have not heard the entire speech, so I can't actually comment knowledgably.

Isn't It Horrible Trump said that a nation's leader should
place their nation's best interests first.
    <sarcasm>

It seems the reason so many ferigners were upset with the speech is it served notice their economies no longer get to feed on an :flagus: tit at our expense.

I would have preferred Sanders but, Trump is fine with me except for his conversion to a RepubloCratic / Neocon foreign policy and "war we must" behaviors as if he were a Swamp Rat too.

So what specifically was your problem with Trump's speech, beyond his Jersey ways.

After hearing it again I think he hit all the points but sort of used crazy words and he ticked off the Iraniacs over the nuke treaty put down.

It could gave been a lot worse.

He used words at the level that even half of his base can understand as long as their city cousins explain it to them.

Then don't attempt to blame me for yours.

    Details please. Details.

    Examples, please. Examples.

And yet in your screed you offered not one single example of that, nor will you. You were complaining that "foreign policy experts" were all apoplectic about Trump's speech, and then you didn't even bother to connect any dots at all regarding my response, and jumped to individual liberties which are protected by our Constitution, which only does so for our own citizens.

So you're going to have to do better before you spin off the track.

His speech sounded dead serious to me. Your conclusions are wrought from your own fantasies, and your ideology has built an impractical cocoon around you, and made you completely unable to relate with actual good strategy.

I am very much aware of the statements you made on the thread you started. That was a courageous admission. It's hard for a man to admit he was wrong, but you did.

What was inaccurate? Nearly everything. Spouting off about "America First" and encouraging nationalism for other countries as well at the United Nations was moronic, chronically inappropriate and just plain stupid.

The U.N. was formed for the express purpose of eliminating world wars that occurred in the 20th Century and nearly every century before it. Before the United Nations, Trump urged other leaders to always "put your countries first." What does Trump talk about? The destruction of a nation. The use of the pejorative, rocket man, was petty and childish.

The Iranian nuclear deal. Good Lord, what can I say? The idea that the U.S. made an embarrassing deal is itself embarrassing, if true. Trump was too stupid to realize he just insulted his own country in front of the leaders of 193 countries. Now that is stupid. Also, what every other leader knew, what every American in the T.V. audience knew, but, apparently Trump did not, is that if he voids the nuclear deal Iran is freed up to begin building a nuclear bomb. Also, he was the only one in the room who wants to void the deal. All other members of the P5+1, plus Iran, plus the IAEA, do not want Trump to tear up the deal. Trump himself has certified the deal ... twice. The IAEA is monitoring Iran and they say that Iran is in full compliance with the deal. Trump has never claimed that Iran is in violation of the deal.

Which begs a question. How many ways can Trump be wrong on a single issue?

Saying that parts of world "are going to hell" is a statement that belongs in a barroom, which is probably why you agree with the statement. I said his adoring admirers would like the speech. I knew you/they would.

"Why do you believe Iran becoming a nuclear country isn't a threat to the US and Israel?" If Trump voids the deal, Iran will become a "nuclear country." The Iranian nuclear deal and the IAEA is preventing that from happening.

    GEEZ!

And you believed Bill Clinton when he explained that N. Korea would never have nuclear weapons because of the identical deal he made that Obama made with Iran - the absurdity of claiming if we give them the money and means to build nuclear weapons, then they won't.

The UN is the most useless organization on the planet and putting them in their place is long over due. We need to withdraw from the UN and send them packing. The money we'd save could be used to pay off the national debt. I'm in favor of turning the UN complex in New York into housing for the homeless, it would be occupied by a much better class of people than the parasitic scam artists from the third world.

I said, "No doubt his adoring admirers loved every word of the speech." Everyone of them are proving me right.

His base came out for the red meat. They are blissfully unaware of how stupid that speech was. They know it as just another campaign speech, totally ignoring the venue. The New York Times provides just one aspect of that stupidity. I'm probably wasting my time because this will fly right over the heads of his adoring admirers. Duh!

The Times reported, "President Trump is now fully engaged in two nuclear confrontations, one with Iran over a nuclear accord he finds an “embarrassment” and the other with North Korea that is forcing the Pentagon to contemplate for the first time in decades what a resumption of the Korean War might look like.

"The dynamics of those cases are entirely different, but they are also oddly interdependent. If Mr. Trump makes good on his threat to pull out of the 2015 nuclear agreement with Iran, how will he then convince the North Korean leader, Kim Jong-un, that America will honor the commitment to integrate North Korea into the world community if only it disarms — the demand Mr. Trump made from the podium of the United Nations.

"The fiercest defenders of the Iran deal argue that Mr. Trump’s team has not thought about how his threats to Tehran resonate 4,000 miles away in Pyongyang, especially since Iran has held up its end of the agreement."
