Those who don't want a gun are the ones who raise children who understand nothing about guns and are likely the ones who accidentally kill with them.

You know, most of the child accidents are done by the gun in the home?

How would we know? None of that is reported in the stats. The only thing many kids whose families don't own guns know about guns are learned in Call Of Duty or some such game.

And probably done by a friend of the child who lived with the gun.

Err, the owner of the gun should have educated his child about gun safety. What sort of irresponsible gun owner lets his child go out with a gun!

Who said they went out with the gun? There are more responsible gun owners who do raise their children properly with respect to guns than those who don't. Do any non gun owners raise their children knowing about guns or even tell them to leave guns alone?

So the gun was left around by the owner of the gun in his house within easy reach of a friend of his child? That gun owner is an irresponsible gun owner

In the opinion of a gun hater. A gun locked in a gun safe unloaded is absolutely no protection.

Of course not, the gun was left on a table and then used by a friend of the gun owner's son to accidentally kill the son. Where was the "responsible gun owner" at the time of his carelessness?

How much responsibility does the parent of the child who pulled the trigger have for not teaching the child to always leave guns alone? If a child plays with a knife and accidentally kills someone should we ban knives? When a child drinks bleach should we ban bleach? Or do we teach kids to leave those things alone? We teach kinds about all things that are dangerous in the house because everyone uses them but we tend to not teach them about guns if we don't use them or want them removed, why is that? Television, movies and video games most have guns but so many parents don't seem to want to have that conversation with their kids. My kids and grand-kids are educated in the dangers because we own them. My 12 year old grand daughter is not allowed to have her friends in the house because we have a gun in here and don't know the level of training they have had. Removing all guns in the US is not feasible or even right but education of our children is the responsible thing to do.

The responsibility rests on the gun owner

If you love your children the responsibility rests on you. Because you can't be sure others will be responsible you must be responsible and educate you kids yourself. You do this for everything else like dangers of poisons, or knives, electricity, fireworks and cars so why not guns and sex?
